Rose had joked that she’d “call my baby daddy tonight,” after revealing she’d experienced a “horrible” threesome.
Amber Rose has accused ex-husband Wiz Khalifa of publicly ‘slut-shaming’ her after her recent threesome revelation. The model confessed to engaging in a ‘horrible’ threesome on her Podcast earlier this week, but after jokingly referencing her ex he fired back on Twitter.
Amber Rose says she’s been ‘slut-shamed’ by Wiz Khalifa
Speaking about her first threesome during her Loveline With Amber Rose podcast, the 32-year-old had said: “We kinda just got together it was a guy and a girl and it was f**king horrible. It was the worst.
The former couple share custody of their 3-year-old son, Sebastian.
Amber Rose paid special tribute to her ex-husband rapper Wiz Khalifa on Father’s Day calling him the ‘most awesome dad in the world’. The former couple have remained on good terms since their split in 2014 and they shared legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Sebastian.

That's one way to celebrate it...
There seems to be absolutely no beef left whatsoever between Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose as they visited a strip club together on Monday night (June 6th 2016) to celebrate finally settling their divorce... sorry, we meant celebrating their 'love'. It seems both parties are happy with what they got out of it, because they're still rich AF.
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose celebrated their 'love' on Monday
If you can go out an celebrate with ex-wife upon finally divorcing, that's an amicable break-up. They have every reason to be amicable, though, because they have both walked away with a pretty sweet deal. Rose has been awarded $1 million as well as $14,800 a month in child support for their 3-year-old son Sebastian, while Khalifa gets their swish abode in Pennsylvania and ten of their cars including a '69 Chevelle and a Porsche. Plus, they get joint custody of their son, so there's no issue there. According to TMZ, Rose has already got $356k from Khalifa, so there's just $644k more to go.

It started off as Kanye vs Wiz Khalifa on twitter last night…until Amber Rose stepped in.
If you were lucky enough to be sitting in front of twitter at the right time last night then you probably caught Kanye West’s epic rant against rapper Wiz Khalifa, most of which has now been deleted. But Khalifa wasn't West’s only target during his tirade, Yezzus also took aim at his former girlfriend Amber Rose, who happens to be Khalifa’s ex-wife. But then it all ended suddenly when Rose showed up to shut down her former boyfriend, once again.
Amber Rose got involved in the twitter war of the century last night.
To recap the drama, when Kanye revealed that his new album was now titled Waves, Khalifa pointed out on twitter that rapper Max B. had originally created ‘the 'wavy movement’. Then in a separate tweet, Khalifa wrote, ‘Hit this kk and become yourself,’ in reference to his own strain of marijuana.
We thought we had heard every version of ‘Hello’ imaginable, until Wiz Khalifa dropped this.
Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s freestyling skills are no joke and neither is his love for smoking weed. So what happens when you combine his ability to write to any beat, with his love of grass and then throw in the biggest track of 2015? You get the most unexpected Adele re-working ever!
Wiz Khalifa has offered his own take on Adele’s ‘Hello’.
While appearing on Los Angeles' Power 106 radio, Khalifa was offered the opportunity to put his freestyling skills to the test by host Mister Cap. When asked if he could write to anything, Khalifa had replied, "I have to feel it out, you got a beat or something?”

‘See You Again’ is taken from the soundtrack to ‘Furious 7’.
Rapper Wiz Khalifa is on top of the UK charts this weekend with the emotional ‘See You Again’, which pays tribute to the late Furious 7 actor Paul Walker. The track, which features Charlie Puth on vocals, has also become the fastest selling single of the year so far, overtaking Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’.
Khalifa's ‘See You Again’ pays tribute to the late Paul Walker.
‘See You Again’ climbed 21 places to top the chart this week, bringing its combined sales total up to 193,000 copies. The single is taken from the soundtrack to the seventh instalment of the Fast and Furious series, which has just surpassed the $1billion mark at the worldwide box office.
A recap of some of the most prominent assault cases in entertainment this year.
The assault cases in the entertainment business just keep coming. After Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and most recently, Wiz Khalifa, have all faced assault charges, the unfortunate trend is apparently moving across the pond. Former N-Dubz member Dappy has been fined £800 for slapping a man outside Chicago’s in Clemsford after an event back in February. According to BBC News Dappy, 27, faced trial at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court under his real name Dino Costas Contostavlos. Mr Contostavlos was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and costs of £930. He is only the latest to go down in a disturbing series of high profile cases of violence.
Dappy is in abundant, if not very flattering company these days.
At the beginning of the year, former pop sweetheart Justin Bieber was charged with assault after allegedly getting in a brawl with a Toronto limo driver. The incident took place in December 2013.
Fans, who lined up 12 hours earlier, definitely got their time's worth in Elton John's set.
Bonnaroo festival ended on a high note yesterday, with Elton John as the final performer – but not before fans had been queuing up for over 12 hours to see the Brit perform. But even before he took the stage for his first ever American festival performance, there was plenty to see and hear in the supporting acts.
Bonnaroo was the Brit's first festival appearance.
One of the most anticipated gigs at Bonnaroo was the Arctic Monkeys’ set. Late in the swealtering afternoon, they opened with their festival sing-along Do I Wanna Know?, which funnily enough echoed Sam Smith’s cover on Friday night. The festival crowd was loving it though, with one woman reportedly taking to mattress-surfing during their set.
The 26 year-old rapper shared several photos of himself incarcerated on social media, after he was arrested for possessing marijuana on Sunday (May 25th).
Wiz Khalifa is known for his love for smoking marijuana, and this doesn't change when his hobby even lands him behind bars.
The rap star was arrested on Sunday (May 25th) after the Transportation Security Agency found a "green leafy substance" while he was trying to fly from El Paso to Dallas, Us Weekly reports.
"The TSA Officer learned that Thomaz did not have any identification which led to him being sent for secondary screening," El Paso Chief of Police Gregory K. Allen also said in a statement. "During that screening the TSA Officer located a metal container inside of the backpack which contained a prohibited item."

Lionel Richie and Vampire Weekend will also perform at the annual roof-raiser.
The line-up for this year's Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival has been announced and looks to be more impressive than ever with Elton John, Kanye West, Lionel Richie, Jack White and Vampire Weekend all gracing the Manchester, Tenn. stages across the four-day celebration. The festival, which will be held from the 12th to the 15th June this year, will serve up an enviable mix of genres.
Elton John Will Lead This Year's Incredible Bonnaroo Festival Line-Up.
Bonnaroo Festival is famous for having provided a stage to one of Kanye West's famous rants last time he played in 2008. The rapper and his fans reacted with outrage when Kanye's originally late night set was shifted to a performance during broad daylight, provoking a classic caps-lock tirade from the short-fused star.

As least she keeps her clothes on this time...but only just.
Miley Cyrus has sashayed into the world of rap with Mike WiLL Made It's new song, '23,' featuring the twerking 20 year-old on guest vocals alongside Wiz Khalifa and Juicy J. The song and music video are an unabashed Michael Jordan tribute, as the crew rock basketball outfits in a school gym and stomp about to flashing lights in their "Jays." The track title, '23,' is a reference to Jordan's jersey number.
Miley Debuted Another Racy Get-Up At iHeartRadio's Festival.
The accompanying music video shows the crew invading a high school after hours. Mike WiLL Made It and his so-called "Made It Mafia" roll into the gym bedecked in Michael Jordan gear whilst Miley opts for basketball jersey dresses, a patent leather pinafore, kitten heels, a tiny Chanel bag, and plenty of her signature gyrating flesh.
This year's festival season may have seen its disasters, but Made In America closed the summer of 2013 with a bang!
The Budweiser Made in America Festival 2013 was jampacked with highlights from some of the most iconic artists of the age, as well as some of the best up-and-coming stars and the hidden talent you'd be a fool to have missed.
Taking place over August 31st and September 1st in Philadelphia, the Saturday kicked things off with some impressive acts. Feisty California sisters Haim performed early on in the afternoon with a thoroughly entertaining set, in terms of both music and audience interaction, on the Liberty Stage where other must-see artists such as Deadmau5, 2 Chainz and triple BRIT winning Emeli Sande also thrilled the crowd. The Freedom Stage saw the likes of Rudimental further establish their place in the hearts of a large proportion of festival goers, while the Skate Park Stage saw much smaller bands such as Ohio group Cloud Nothings and New Jersey D&B duo Brick & Mortar get the ultimate chance to showcase their talents. The main Rocky Stage was, of course, the real crowd bringer, with Beyonce headlining and Phoenix and Imagine Dragons delivering the uttermost electrifying rock shows of the night.
Chief Keef was one delivering the abuse, though it was Katy Perry who ended up apologizing!
Chief Keef indulged in a pretty sick Twitter tirade against clean-cut pop star Katy Perry after the 'Fireworks' singer joked about the rapper's new song this week. Tweeting after hearing Keef's tack 'Hate Bein' Sober,' Perry told followers, "I now have serious doubt for the world."
Keef caught wind of the jibe and resorted to a sickening verbal attack, tweeting, "Dat bitch Katy Perry Can Suck Skin Off Of my Di*k," before adding, "Ill Smack The Sh*t out her." Bizarrely, it was the pop star who ended up apologizing, replying "Mr. Keef! I'm sorry if I offended you. I heard a lot of people guesting on the song & didn't even know it was you in particular," in reference to the Wiz Khalifa and 50 Cent parts on 'Hate Bein' Sober.' She backtracked further, saying, "Actually... I'm a fan of your 'Don't Like' video tbh. I was really just having a general opinion on our generations desire to be constantly intoxicated... Believe me, I'm a lover not a hater."
No word on whether Keef accepted the apology, though he did re-tweet the message. A few hours later to he openly expressed his lust for NFL start Reggie Bush's fiancee Lilit Avagyan. Oh Keef.

Taylor Swift, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Nicki Minaj among star arrivals at the 2013 Billboard Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The 2013 Billboard Music Awards looked to be one of the most celeb-filled events of the year with some of the music industry's biggest stars making their glamorous arrivals.
'22' singer Taylor Swift clutched eight accolades to her chest as she posed on the red carpet having won Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Country Album for 'Red', Top Country Song with 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together', Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist and Top Country Artist. Carly Rae Jepsen was another young female star to land a prize winning Top Digital Song and Top Pop Song for her massive 2012 hit 'Call Me Maybe'. Queen of Pop Madonna scooped up three well deserved awards including Top Dance Album for 'MDNA', Top Dance Artist and Top Touring Artist after her controversial 'MDNA' tour which landed her amidst a handful of lawsuits. There was no sign of letting up on the controversial front either as she donned hotpants, suspenders and fishnets at the Billboard event. Top Streaming Artist, Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album with 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded' went to Nicki Minaj while Top EDM Artist was none other than David Guetta who brought his wife Cathy Guetta along with him to the awards show.
Justin is to return the favor by laying down some tunes on Juicy J's new record.
With his boy band days firmly behind him, it looks like Justin Timberlake is finally getting some street cred. Wiz Khalifa talked about Justin’s upcoming collaboration with the King Of Ratchet, Juicy J. Timberlake is just one of the collaborators to be featured on the album, but also probably the most high-profile one.
“He's got songs with Justin Timberlake,” said Wiz. "He has a song with the Weeknd… but it's like a real hood album too, you know Juicy's projects." This isn’t the first time J and J have joined forces on a project, though. Justin’s last album, Future Sex/ Love Sounds featured the song Chop Me Up, on which Timberlake worked along with Three 6 Mafia. So now JT is simply returning the favor. Wiz also revealed some other details about Juicy’s upcoming work, delving into plans for his future summer project, Stay Trippy: "He's really breaking his back to give it that old sound mixed with the new, nothing forced."
Wiz went into detail to praise Juicy’s work, but of course, the rapper is a signee of Taylor Gang – Wiz Khalifa’s own project. What are protégés for, if not to be promoted at every opportunity, after all. In any case, if you’re interested in hearing J&J’s collab, keep your eyes and ears on the interwebz – it should be dropping soon.
The new Twitter music app is destined for success
There’s no denying the popularity and power of Twitter; 200m monthly users tells you all you need to know. But do Twitter risk jeopardizing their gleaming reputation by entering into the music market?
On the face of it, Twitter’s new music service, #Music, seems like a perfect idea. People already share tracks on twitter via urls to different sources, and it’s the primary tool for artists to connect with their fans via reveals, competitions and general updates. It takes one look at the top ten most-followed list to what dominates twitter: music. Justin Bieber tops it, followed by artists like Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. In fact, there are only two non-music related account in there: Obama and YouTube. Twitter began by testing the service with celebrities such as Ryan Seacrest, Blake Shelton, Ne-Yo and Moby. Wiz Khalifa last week tweeted: "Man this new Twitter music app is insane!" Stephen Philips, founder of We Are Hunted, wrote in a Twitter blog post: "Twitter and music go great together. People share and discover new songs and albums every day. Many of the most-followed accounts on Twitter are musicians, and half of all users follow at least one musician."
Wiz Khalifa loves the Twitter service. We don't know what Carla Howe thinks, though

Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose have named their first child Sebastian.
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose's baby boy was introduced to the world on Twitter this week in a rather nice father-son snap that saw rapper Wiz cradling his kid in the hospital, hours after Amber had given birth. The snap, featuring Khalifa in a fetching pink hoodie, included the caption, "Best daddy ever.. Up with the baby so Muva can go back to sleep :-)
The new mother was understandably head over heels with the new addition to the family, tweeting earlier, "Happy Birthday to our baby boy Sebastian 'The Bash' Taylor Thomaz! I'm so happy u guys I fell in love all over again! :-)" There it is. The all-important name, and a pretty cool one at that. Sebastian Taylor Thomaz. It's got Grammy Awards written all over it. There's been some pretty bad celebrity baby names over the past couple of months - Sirus, Tennessee, Olive, Gavin, Camden-John - and we think Sebastian stands up pretty well.
The congratulatory messages began pouring in from Wiz and Amber's famous friends almost immediately after the birth. "Congratulations to my fam @mistercap and @muvarosebud !!! Welcome baby Bash! You're born in an exquisite month #babypisces," tweeted Rihanna. "Welcome 2 fatherhood @mistercap!!! Congrats 2 u n @muvarosebud on ur new son - he got the same Cday as @cbroadus!!! Bless up," said Snoop Dogg, referring to his own son Cordell.
Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose welcome baby Sebastian 'The Bash' Taylor Thomaz into the world, the couple's first child.
The couple each uploaded comments regarding the birth of their new son on to Twitter moments after model Amber gave birth, with Wiz writing, "Everyone welcome this perfect young man into the world," and Amber: "Happy Birthday to our baby boy Sebastian 'The Bash' Taylor Thomaz! I'm so happy u guys I fell in love all over again,."
Prior to this announcement, Wiz had told the world of the impending child birth when he uploaded a picture of himself in hospital scrubs, with the caption: "Daddy time." Now it really is 'daddy time' for the rap star, who is known for his 'young, wild and free' lifestyle, as he he Amber have a big task ahead of them as they enter the ever increasing world of hip-hop couples with/who are having babies.
Is it unfair to assume that Rihanna was the most likely target of the Grammys’ dress code warning email? We’re looking down the list of performers and you know what? We don’t think this email was directed at Jack White. We don’t think it was directed at Alicia Keys. And we really don’t think it was directed at Maroon 5. Deadline.com got hold of the missive, which was emailed out to the ceremony’s live performers and anyone who may appear on camera, instructing them to “be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered.” And reminding them that “thong type costumes are problematic.” And there was some very specific rules about which parts of your breasts may and may not be on display (none of it, basically). And don’t even ask about the rules on the visibility of genitalia.
We’re really struggling to picture Taylor Swift rocking up on stage in a “thong type costume.” Mumford & Sons doing some kind of striptease, mid-song? We can’t see it. We also can’t picture the Preservation Hall Band exposing their butt cracks (unless they drop something, maybe and need to bend down to fetch it). At a push, we can imagine hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa might have his trousers a little low-slung, risking the exposure of some part of his junk, or his trunk but seriously? There’s only one person this email was aimed at and that’s Rihanna, surely?
The 24 year old has a history of stepping out in risky outfits. Remember the semi-see-through striped dress of 2009? The mid-riff display and leather hot-pants from last year’s Grammys (some definite buttock curvature on display there)? The barely-there strapless bra top and equally-barely-there denim cut offs, complete with fishnets that she opted for in Ottawa in 2011? Yep. We reckon that email was intended for Rihanna. Everyone else can just relax.

A mixed week for US albums releases; old classics given an airing, a major movie soundtrack launched and hip-hop arTIsts new and old having a stab at chart success. Currently, the top of the US album chart is dominated by Taylor Swift, who’s back at the top with Red, Wiz Khalifa, riding high at number two with O.N.F.C. and Rod Stewart’s festive compilation album, Merry Christmas, Baby.
Eric Clapton’s Slowhand gets a 35th anniversary reissue, having been remastered from the original “1/4 tape. There are four album session outtakes, entitled ‘Looking at the Rain,’ ‘Alberta,’ ‘Greyhound Bus,’ and ‘Stars, Strays and Ashtrays.’ A second disc contains a live performance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, from April 27, 1977.
One for the completists, then – and more a case of Clapton’s record label rubbing their hands in glee at a cash in, than any real significant moment in his career. The re-release of Slowhand has hardly set the music press alight and we probably don’t need to fetch any fire blankets for the albums chart, either.
Albums of Note... It looks as though Bruno Mars has stepped things up a gear on Unorthodox Jukebox. From straight-up pop songs, to disco and funk stylings, and a nod to reggae in there too, Mars very rarely fails to hit the mark with these new tracks. “Unorthodox Jukebox is a rich pick and mix of different and colourful elements. His lyrics sometime fall short, but a likeably mischievous personality shines through nonetheless, and so on the whole this is a real step up even from the songs that broke him so hugely two years ago.”
Adding a fresh slant to the out-dated genre of twee-duets, Adam Green & Binki Shapiro release a self-titled album of brief ditties, which may appear cutesy at first glance but soon reveal their darker side, with lyrics such as “I can't be the first to say you're the worst, surely there's one or two? / I care more if you act as though you like me than if you really do.” Adam Green is probably the better known of the two, from his work as part of Moldy Peaches and of course his solo work, too. Binki Shapiro already has indie cred from her other band, Little Joy. “Like everything the pair have done individually, together they have made a record that's short, sweet, and maturely macabre; a late contender for an album of the year.”
Wiz Khalifa’s new album O.N.I.F.C (abbreviated from One Night In First Class, or if you’re feeling slightly more edgy, One Nigga In First Class) is out in the US this week, with many expecting the rapper to do well in the charts this coming weekend. However, one thing that doesn’t seem to have escaped Wizzy is the stigma that a lot of his lyrical content focuses on narcotic intake – and it’s something he resents.
"The stigma that I get — even with this album, the vibe of it and how mellow it is — you automatically say, 'Oh, it's a stoner album,' just because I smoke," the Pittsburgh rapper told MTV News on Tuesday (December 4). He went on to rebuke, "Instead of saying it's a mood album or something that you really have to listen to or pay attention to, people automatically say it's a stoner album." You can sort of see their point, Wiz. One of the track’s is even called ‘Medicated’.
He wasn’t having it though, and continued: "When you break it down and you listen to the lyrics and all the words, you really find out how deep I'm going in and how lyrical I'm actually being and how literal I'm being by putting my life into every bar," adding "I think it'll take time and people will break it down and eventually find the real meaning."
So, Rihanna finally bumped Taylor Swift from the top of the US album charts, with the aptly-titled Unapologetic. Could it be that Ke$ha does the same to her Barbadian pop rival, with the release of Warrior, her second studio album?
The 25 year-old Californian has never been afraid of raising a few eyebrows and Warrior sees no change in her artistic determination. Drownedinsound.com reviewed the album describing it as “never dull, always fun and frequently a thrillingly unpredictable ride,” with All Music Guide backing up that theory, calling it a “wall-to-wall party for the freaks, burnouts, outcasts and misfits and if you don’t get it that’s your fault and not hers.” Strong words indeed and certainly a more passionate critical response than Rihanna received for Unapologetic.
Rhi-Rhi’s certainly got more celebrity pull than Ke$ha, but if the public latch on to the enthusiastic response to Warrior, could we see another upset at the top of the charts next week? Her last album, 2010’s Animal, was a US number one so we see no reason why the exuberant club queen shouldn’t be up there again this time next week.
Amber Rose hasn’t dropped a baby yet, but her partner Wiz Khalifa dropped a bombshell yesterday (November 27, 2012) when he appeared on Angie Martinez’s show on Hot 97. Wiz told listeners that he plans on tying the not with Amber in the next few weeks, but in true Khalifa style, he was pretty laid back about the whole thing.
He told the show’s listeners “We’re gonna get like license marriage. A couple of weeks we’re gonna have that done. I’ve said it, I don’t think people really understood what I was saying. They’re like ‘Yeah okay, whatever.' Definitely, like in the next few weeks. Before or after I get off tour. You just sign the papers or whatever and it’s like a legal thing. It’s like ‘Bam, you’re married.’ And then when you have the ceremony that’s when you invite the family, she can fit into her dress.” Who says romance is dead, huh!? So, it looks as though the ‘proper’ wedding photos will have the baby in them in that case, even they plan on getting legally hitched before it’s born. Oh and Amber “wants to get drunk” too – let’s not forget that!
Wiz seems pretty enamoured with the little boy that they’ve got on the way. He told Angie that they’d had a 3D ultrasound done and the little chap was smiling, according to him.

Hip-hop star Lil’ Wayne can officially claim to be better than the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley! Well, in one sense, he can. Lil Wayne is now the male artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100. That title was originally held by The King, but according to Billboard’s data, there have now been an impressive total of 109 Lil Wayne songs on the chart, besting Elvis’ own record of 108.
Fittingly, the latest track that nudged Wayne to the top, is a track from The Game, entitled ‘Celebration’ and featuring Lil’ Wayne, alongside Chris Brown, Tyga and Wiz Khalifa. Wayne’s appearance on the track is deemed enough for him to rack up another point in the Billboard entry contest. This great news that – in some little way at least – Lil’ Wayne is ‘better’ than Elvis couldn’t have come at a better time, either, as the rapper celebrates his birthday today (September 27, 2012). Yesterday, he was busy launching the Trukstop Skate Park in his home city of New Orleans. “I just want to help out my city, help out the people and the kids, give them something to do, something they haven’t done before,” he told Associated Press.
Elsewhere, Lil’ Wayne has been causing much hilarity, as a deposition video of his has landed on YouTube, showing him being impressively uncooperative and obnoxious, as he’s questioned in relation to his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III. It makes for pretty funny viewing though, we wouldn’t want to swap places with the poor man trying to interview him.
Wiz Khalifa has been implicated in a hit and run, and is under investigation according to MTV.
The Taylor Gang rapper is now under investigation for supposedly bolting the scene of a hit-and-run accident that occurred last Wednesday night in Los Angeles. What’s worse is that the other person involved may have been a temporary colleague o’ Wiz’s, as the woman in question was working on a music video shoot with him. Whoops. Wiz is getting ready to release O.N.I.F.C. – his new album - while looking forward to the new addition to his family. "I've been pretty focused my entire life, and now that I have a family, I'm just going to keep that focus, but it's going to be a family focus," he shared with MTV News.
Want to make the headlines? Do a hit and run, or so says the school of Lindsay Lohan anyway. The Mean girls star was also implicated in a ‘smash and dash’ incident recently, but in this case, she’s due to sue the man she hit… and then ran from. "She's absolutely suing," Michael Lohan told The New York Daily News Monday. "You have to put your foot down to people doing this to you. I mean, come on. This guy has a brace on but went running down the ramp after her?" Lohan is reportedly upset that the man she hit with her Porsche called her drunk.
Nicki Minaj’s decision to join the American Idol judging panel will undoubtedly do wonders for her own career but will could other rappers expect the same success if they tried to pull a similar move? Wiz Khalifa told MTV News he could judge another singing competition, if Nicki can manage the Idol crowd. Some industry insiders seem to be in agreement, others aren’t so sure that Nicki’s latest career development will do much for hip-hop as a whole.
Karen Civil - author of her own blog and the woman in charge of running the social media accounts for the likes of Lil Wayne and Dr. Dre’s Beats By Dre headphone company – reckons that Wiz would do a good job of joining a TV talent show. “I can see Wiz hosting one of these shows,” said Karen, though she did add a cautionary comment, saying “even though he smokes a lot.” Karen also reckons that Nicki’s addition to American Idol is a double-win. As well as Nicki opening herself up to a new audience, Karen says “They need her, they need her audience, she's a very popular person and her fans are going to tune into everything that she does, so that equals viewership for them.”
Brian Miller of RapRadar.com isn’t so sure that Nicki’s success would translate so well to all rappers though. He makes the valid point that recent Nicki Minaj songs have had strong pop-crossover potential. Not all rappers have this. “I don't think Nas would ever get $8 million for judging someone in a hip-hop competition, you have to be a pop star to acquire that kind of money," he said. "If you're not in a pop lane, you're never going to ever get this kind of exposure or these kind of crossover looks.” And we’re inclined to agree.
