deadmau5 (born Joel Thomas Zimmerman; 05.01.1981)
deadmau5 is a Canadian house music producer.
Childhood: deadmau5 was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. His parents are Nancy, an artist, Rod, a plant worker at General Motors. When he was a teenager, he got his first keyboard and began making music. According to his father, deadmau5's moniker came about after a dead mouse was discovered in his computer and he was thenceforth known as the 'dead mouse guy'.
Musical career: deadmau5 released his debut album 'Get Scraped' in 2005. In 2007, he set up his own record label mau5trap on which he released 'Random Album Title' in 2008, collaborating with Kaskade on his song 'I Remember'. He also collaborated with Kaskade on 'Move for Me' which reached number one on Billboard magazine's Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart. In 2009, he became the best-selling artist on Beatport with over 30,000 downloads. That year, he released his album 'For Lack of a Better Name' which was certified silver and won a Juno Award. It features the songs 'Ghosts 'n' Stuff' and 'Strobe'. In 2010, he was named as the house DJ for the MTV Video Music Awards and performed with Jason Derulo and Travie McCoy. His fifth album, 4×4=12, came out in 2010 and features the songs 'Some Chords', 'Animal Rights' and 'Sofi Needs a Ladder'. 'Some Chords' was used in an episode of 'CSI' in which deadmau5 made a cameo while 'Sofi Needs a Ladder' was used in 'The Hangover Part II'. In 2012, he released 'Album Title Goes Here' on which he collaborated with Chris James and My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way.
Personal life: deadmau5 dated Playboy's Lindsey Evans from 2010 to 2011. He then began dating tattoo artist Kat Von D. Though they briefly split in 2012, they were soon engaged to be married the following year. He currently lives with her in LA. In 2010, he collapsed on stage in Washington DC after suffering from exhaustion and vomiting. His subsequent shows were then cancelled. He caused controversy among DJs in 2008 by slamming their techniques and insisting that he was not a DJ. He later apologised after a backlash from many of his fans. “There are no CDs involved. It’s a technological orgy up there and I try and keep it more my music than anyone else’s. If people come out to see deadmau5 I want them to hear deadmau5 music.”
There aren't many music producers who have the same arrogance and ostentatious behavior as Joel Zimmerman, known to most as the superstar DJ Deamau5.
His views on EDM are outlandish, though mostly comprehendible (he once called EDM Event Driven Marketing). His tweets are exact and targeted like a militant sniper. He has a foul-mouthed approach that any incompetent producer would feel the wrath of.
So when his latest studio album 'W:/2016Album' is criticised heavily by the mastermind DJ himself, is this some kind of double entendre, some hidden agenda that Deadmau5 wants us to equivocate? He can be extemporaneous, his perspective extremely direct, though this time, I think he was just being honest.

From Kendrick Lamar to Slayer, this year is definitely one of the best.
Bonnaroo is in full swing and while we've seen some pretty impressive acts so far, the musical forecast shows things are not going to get quieter anytime soon. One of America's biggest and most diverse summer events, fans flock in their thousands to Tennessee this weekend to welcome some of the world's top entertainers.
Friday's line-up is a particularly mixed bag; where you've got music veterans the likes of 80s new wave legends Tears For Fears and 70s R&B band Earth Wind & Fire, you also got newer names such as LA duo Mini Mansions, who recently won acclaim for their second album 'The Great Pretenders', and Brit award winning UK chart toppers Royal Blood. Making some noise on the main What Stage throughout though are house producer Deadmau5, 'To Pimp a Butterfly' rapper Kendrick Lamar and roots rock collective Alabama Shakes.

What has Paris Hilton been up to in recent years? Making too much money as a DJ it seems, according to DeadMau5.
If you weren’t already aware, Paris Hilton is now a DJ and the heiress seems to be making a pretty good living spinning the decks in Ibiza. According to Paper magazine, Hilton recently made $2.7 million for working four nights in Ibiza, which isn't bad for a long weekend. However not everyone is happy to see Paris now making her fortune off the art of DJing, especially the renowned Deadmau5.
Paris Hilton is now a DJ raking in the big bucks
Writing on his blog the DJ said, “So Paris makes a billion dollars playing a CD at a club. thats great. How is this news again? Personally, I would pay about as much to see her ‘perform’ as indy fans would pay to watch me struggle to get out of first gear and 20 feet off the starting grid in an Indy500 race without ending up in a wreck,” the DJ wrote.

Deadmau5 ranted about Disney's legal stance on his Twitter page.
The Walt Disney Co has filed an objection to musician Deadmau5's use of stylized ears, claiming they are too similar to its iconic signature logo. Filing with the U.S Patent and Trademark Office, the company said that Deadmau5's logo is "nearly identical in appearance, connotation and overall commercial impression to Disney's Mouse Ears Marks."

There's been ups and downs, but Ultra Music Festival turned out another year of unforgettable musical energy.
Ultra Music Festival turned out to be a bit of a rollercoaster of a weekend for everyone this year but, as usual, it's been three days of some of the most explosive electronic acts of our generation.
It was a terribly disappointing moment for festival goers (and, indeed, viewers; those who were viewing it live online) when it was announced that Saturday's main stage headliner Avicii would not make it to Miami for his set after being hospitalised earlier in the week for an emergency operation. However, that initial fan frustration was greatly eased by the arrival of Deadmau5, who took the Swedish DJ's place to much delightful surprise. Further entertainment came with some eagerly anticipated headline sets from Tiesto and Hardwell on the Friday and Sunday respectively.

Tattoo artist and model Kat Von D has called off her seven month engagement with DJ Deadmau5.
Kat Von D, the American tattooist and LA Ink TV personality has announced via Twitter that it's "over" between her and Canadian producer/performer Deadmau5 after they became engaged in December 2012. The heavily tattooed model suggested via Twitter that Deadmau5, AKA Joel Zimmerman, cheated on her. After initially tweeting, "Man, I'm a fool," she tweeted, "Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do. I hate to have to admit, that this relationship is indeed over", following up with, "Onwards and upwards," though she didn't name names.

Seems Deadmau5 isn't too broken-hearted - the 32 year-old tweeted prior to Von D's confirmation regarding apparently parting ways with his record label: "Well now that I'm finally free... Lets put out some music! Lake mead day to celebrate today, then back to work on Friday :)." Still, can't have come at a good time for 31 year-old Kat, who can now count Deadmau5 alongside TV personality Jesse James in her list of previous fiancés.

Swedish House Mafia at Ultra Musical Festival, Miami
America's favourite EDM fest The Ultra Music Festival have rounded off their last weekend with an impressive line-up.
We expected nothing less than exhilarating, flawless electronic finery from Ultra's uber exciting 2013 2-weekend line-up and neither weekend's artists held back at all as they hit Miami's Bayfront Park full of enthusiasm. Weekend 2's line-up saw a sting of disc jockey legends including double Grammy winner David Guetta, DJ royalty Fatboy Slim, the more recent chart sensation Deadmau5 and the Gold-selling Calvin Harris. Other attendees included Afrojack, who recently remixed Psy's YouTube hit 'Gangnam Style', Dutch sensation Armin Van Buuren, Italian DJ Benni Benassi and out latest electronic music heroes Zeds Dead. Snoop Lion (aka Snoop Dogg) became the highlight of weekend 1, however, and he probably felt right at home having collaborated with many artists on the bill.
