George R.R Martin Pays Tribute To George Martin And Confirms He's Not Dead

Fans became confused between George the producer and George the novelist
Yesterday, thousands of people paid tribute to the "fifth Beatle" - music producer Sir George Martin who passed away at the age of 90 on March 8 (Tuesday). But while many were remembering the days of Love Me Do, there were thousands more panicking that fantasy series Game of Thrones would now never get finished - assuming it was George R.R Martin that was in fact dead.
The news seems to have been first announced by Beatles drummer Ringo Starr via Twitter, as he posted to his followers: 'God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara. George will be missed.'

George R.R. Martin Attends 'Game Of Thrones' Screening, Fans Drink 'GoT Beer'

Fans were given the opportunity to sit on the 'Iron Throne' at the Game of Thrones season 4 event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where rapper Common performed his mix-tape.
George R. R. Martin was the surprise attendee of a Games of Thrones fan-experience at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night (March 20, 2014), where 7,000 fans turned out to watch the fourth season premiere two weeks before it airs on HBO.
One for the real die-hards, the event gave fans the opportunity to sit on the 'Iron Throne', drink 'Game of Thrones' beer and get close to the costumes worn by their favorite characters, according to the Huffington Post.

Jack Vance Dies: Game Of Thrones Writer George Martin Leads Tributes To Sci-Fi Great

Legendary sci-fi writer died in his home aged 96
Tributes from the great and good of the science fiction writing world have been pouring in the light of the death of Jack Vance, best known for his Dying Earth stories. Vance died in his sleep aged 96 at his home yesterday (May 29, 2013) according to his family, and homages have been pouring in.
Described as "one of the grandmasters of our genres,” by Game Of Thrones author George RR Martin, Vance apparently “had a huge influence” on Martin. “For the past 50-some years has ranked among my very favourite writers. Every time a new Jack Vance book came out, I would drop whatever else I was doing and read it. Sometimes I did not mean to, but once you cracked the covers of a Vance book, you were lost," Martin wrote in a blog post."
The bestselling science fiction author John Scalzi meanwhile described Vance as "a genuine great in the field, one whose work captivated generations of science fiction and fantasy readers and writers, many of whom went on to be greats themselves". According to The Guardian he commented "To say he will be missed is obvious. To say his influence will continue to echo through the years is a reassurance. My thoughts to his family, friends and many fans today." Steve Gould, new president of the Science Fiction Writers of America, said Vance was "one of the greatest science fiction and fantasy writers of the 20th century", and that his novel The Dragon Masters "seized me by the throat at a young age and has never let me go".
