The bass player keeps changing...

Metallica have had several bassists. Original bass player Cliff Burton tragically died in a tour bus crash in 1986. Jason Newsted stepped in but left in 2001. Robert Trujillo has held the spot ever since.

Talking about Cliff's influence on the band's music, Trujillo once said to Loudwire: "Cliff was amazing for Metallica. His ideas, his presence, and where he was taking the bass and taking metal, were so special. And his stage presence – he was such a physical player. He played what he felt, and that was the bottom line."
