Sex Pistols singer John Lydon's pro-Trump views are more appropriate than you might realise.

John Lydon (better known as Johnny Rotten) has caused some degree of shock among fans after speaking out in defence of President Donald Trump during an interview on 'Good Morning Britain'. But, really, no-one should be surprised about what he has to say.

While promoting his limited edition artistic endeavour entitled 'Mr Rotten's Songbook', the former Sex Pistols star opened up about his feelings on America's leader, himself being a US citizen despite having been born and raised in London.

John Lydon Voices Support For Brexit And Donald Trump

By Ed Biggs in Movies / TV / Theatre on 27 March 2017

John Lydon

In an interview on 'Good Morning Britain', the former Sex Pistol said the "working class have spoken" and that he backed the people's decision over Brexit.

The ever-outspoken John Lydon has voiced his support for Brexit, saying that “the working class have spoken”, and saying that he would like to shake the hand of the “fantastic” Nigel Farage.

The former Sex Pistols singer and current Public Image Ltd. frontman, known as Johnny Rotten at the height of punk in the ‘70s, appeared on ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Monday (March 27th) to promote his new book, the illustrated ‘Mr. Rotten’s Songbook’.

Always the source of decent copy, the topic of conversation turned to the EU referendum last summer. Perhaps surprisingly, given his general left-wing leanings, he said that he backed Brexit.

John Lydon Claims He Was Banned From The BBC Because He Spoke Out About Jimmy Savile

By Ed Biggs in Music / Festivals on 24 September 2015

The former Sex Pistols singer believes that the BBC banned him because he had threatened to reveal Savile's behaviour back in 1978.

John Lydon has said that his ban from BBC radio for speaking out against Jimmy Savile at the start of his career still rankles with him nearly forty years later.

Lydon, the former lead singer of punk icons the Sex Pistols and now the post-punk veterans Public Image Ltd., gave an interview back in 1978 in which he said the disgraced former presenter Savile was “into all sorts of seediness. We all know about it but we’re not allowed to talk about it. I know some rumours.”

Speaking to Piers Morgan for his 'Life Stories' show, the 59 year old said: “I’m very, very bitter that the likes of Savile and the rest of them were allowed to continue. I did my bit, I said what I had to. But they didn’t air that.”

Ever Get The Feeling You've Been Cheated? The Soul Of Punk Dies As Sex Pistols Credit Cards Are Unveiled

The iconic punk band's name and artwork adorns the designs of three new Virgin Money credit cards.

Virgin Money has unveiled a new range of credit cards featuring punk-themed designs based around the artwork of Sex Pistols albums and singles. That noise you just felt was punk’s final death rattle, by the way.

The bank has rolled out three designs for the new cards, two of which are variations on the artwork for the Pistols’ seminal 1977 album Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols (the only proper studio LP they ever recorded), and a third which uses the cover of 1976 single ‘Anarchy In The UK’.

Super Duper Alice Cooper Trailer

It's fair to say that Vincent Furnier made musical history when he became Alice Cooper; an androgynous shock rocker who spent his teenage years pursuing a career in rock, and certainly not following in his preacher father's footsteps. From his inception, Alice Cooper went against the grain of what is accepted in modern music with over-the-top, gore-filled live shows which at one point saw a chicken get unwittingly murdered by his audience. However, the fun soon got out of hand when Alice Cooper and his band got fully submerged in the rock 'n' roll world of alcohol and drug abuse. Setting up the drinking club The Hollywood Vampires, Alice Cooper would be hospitalised more than once for his substance abuse issues, getting so obsessed with that world that he would not even be able to remember large chunks of his recording career.

The Sex Pistols and PiL frontman was speaking ahead of the release of his new autobiography.

Regardless of what you think of John Lydon, you could never accuse him of failing to speak his mind. On the receiving end of his unique brand of scorn this time have been Simon Cowell and Band Aid.

The former Sex Pistols frontman was addressing an audience of around 300 at Oxford University’s Sheldonian Theatre on Monday evening, ahead of the release of his autobiography ‘Anger is an Energy’. Firstly, he took aim at talent contests like ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

Russell Brand John Lydon

Russell Brand says John Lydon has misinterpreted his views on revolution.

Russell Brand has responded to John Lydon's comments that the comedian is a "bum hole" for asking people not to vote in elections. The former Sex Pistols frontman called Brand "ignorant" for his calls for revolution, telling the Guardian's Polly Toynbee that his ideology would only "make you all homeless".

Russell Brand urged people not to vote in his New Statesman piece

"You have to vote, you have to make a change," urged Lydon. "You're given lousy options, yes, but that's better than nothing at all."

John Lydon Goes Toe-to-Toe With John Humphrys In Fiery Interview

By Michael West in Music / Festivals on 09 October 2014

John Lydon

John Lydon called John Humphrys a "silly sausage" during a heated interview.

John Lydon, the Sex Pistols frontman, took part in a fiery interview with mild-mannered broadcaster John Humphrys on Radio 4 today. The famously abrupt Lydon didn't react well to the journalist's suggestion that he wasn't the only young person to be "anti-establishment."

John Lydon went toe to toe with good old, mild mannered, John Humphrys

"What you were doing was what every young person with a bit of energy, with a bit of interest in life, was doing and that is being anti-establishment," said Humphrys, quite reasonably.

The Filth And The Fury Review

By Max Messier

Excellent

Good documentaries aren't hard to find. Great documentaries are few and far between the cracks of cinematic achievements.

The new documentary The Filth and the Fury ranks as one of the great ones. It chronicles the rise and tragic fall of the infamous British Punk band The Sex Pistols, and the cultural impact they have spread upon the world around us. Director Julian Temple takes the film far above the usual VH-1 retrospectives, recounting past glories, drug parties, and the way a musician found God in a motel in Alabama, thus bringing together the catalytic elements that resulted in the musical movement called "Punk." The Sex Pistols were the forefathers of that movement.
