David Hasselhoff Could Reboot 'Knight Rider' With James Gunn

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 06 August 2017

Could Hasselhoff's popular former franchise make its way back into the spotlight?

David Hasselhoff could be making his way back to the big screen with the reboot of one of his most popular franchises, 'Knight Rider'. In a world where Hollywood is saturated by a slew of reboots, remakes and revivals, the move wouldn't be a surprising one, but the person allegedly interested in working with Hasselhoff on the project might raise some eyebrows.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' writer and director James Gunn is that man, and following his work with Hasselhoff on 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2', it's been revealed that the pair shared some conversations about how they may be able to bring the property back.

Baywatch Review

OK

Clearly, it's a risky proposition adapting a cheesy vintage TV series for the big screen: this is the second one that's gone awry this year, after CHiPs. But it doesn't have to be like this. Lively movie versions of Charlie's Angels and 21 Jump Street proved that with inventive writing, snarky performances and deranged energy, the result can be thoroughly entertaining. Sadly, this movie falls back on cheap jokes that simply aren't that funny. Fans of Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron will still have a good time - they're both unstoppably engaging - but the truth is that this simply isn't good enough.

We're back in Emerald Bay, where the beefy hotshot Mitch (Johnson) heads up the lifeguard crew with babes Stephanie and CJ (Ildenesh Hadera and Kelly Rohrbach). And now they're training up three new recruits: fallen Olympic swimming champ Matt (Efron), feisty hottie Summer (Alexandra Daddario) and pudgy geek Ronnie (Jon Bass). Meanwhile, as various crimes and calamities strike the beach, Mitch decides to investigate everything himself without the help of the local police. And as he becomes convinced that resort owner Victoria (Priyanka Chopra) is involved in bribery, extortion, drug running and murder, he sends his lifeguards undercover to catch her. Which of course is just a bit beyond what they were trained to do.

Baywatch - Trailer and Clips

There is no better lifeguard team out there than that of Los Angeles' Baywatch. However, they are seriously losing money and in order to boost their brand, a PR executive encourages them to get some fresh blood on the team. Matt Brody may have landed two gold medals in the field, but that doesn't guarantee he'll be right for the squad. He's far from an impressive addition in the eyes of Mitch Buchanan; he may be prettier, but he hasn't got the brains or the brawn to match up to him. Matt thinks the job is just about educating people on sunburn and stopping them from drowning, but when it becomes clear that there's a drug ring in the area and a body subsequently washes up on the beach, their job gets a whole lot more complicated. Yeah, they should probably leave it to the police, but instead they decide on an unauthorised undercover sting operation instead. Maybe thrill-seeking Matt can teach Mitch and the team a thing or two about living life on the edge. Or maybe he'll just run like hell.

Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No Gives Ian Ziering A Franchise

By Rich Cline in Movies / TV / Theatre on 24 July 2015

Ian Ziering David Hasselhoff Bo Derek Lou Ferrigno

It's obviously a huge joke, but that's why everyone loves it.

No one expected the original Sharknado to be much more than a laugh, but its sequel Sharknado 2: The Second One was an even bigger hit. Now Syfy has released Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No, and there's also news that star Ian Ziering will be back for a fourth romp next year.

Image caption 'Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No' comin' atcha!

The actor, who rose to fame in the 1990s in Beverly Hills 90210, knows that these films are a joke. "It's over the top, but it's over the top in a great way, and I've stopped questioning it," he says. "These movies are not intended for overthinkers, but they've really captured the imagination of sci-fi fans. Sharknado 2 generated such a shockwave that it reverberated over a billion Twitter impressions around the world. It was all top 10 trending topics on Twitter at the same time! Nowhere in any parallel universe did I ever think that would happen in my career."

The 'Knight Rider' star returns to what he does best.

In recent years, 80s action hero David Hasselhoff has been well known to get involved with a variety of quirky, independent projects - but his latest music video, 'True Survivor', may just be his most unique - not to mention most eccentric - yet.

The Hoff returns to his homeland of early computer graphics, cheesy storylines and epic action stories with a new 80s-inspired short film called 'Kung Fury'. Filmed in Sweden by talented up-and-coming animator David Sandberg, it features a new song from Hasselhoff, 'True Survivor' composed by Mitch Murder, alongside an epic music video.

John Cleese To Star As Villain In Baywatch-but-not-Baywatch Spin-Off. What?

By Jack de Aguilar in Movies / TV / Theatre on 08 July 2014

John Cleese David Hasselhoff Pamela Anderson

It's not Baywatch! It is Baywatch though.

We’ll admit to being a tad confused with this one. A new Baywatch spin-off movie has been announced; with Monty Python star John Cleese fulfilling the role of antagonist.

But even though David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Alexandra Paul - who appeared as Mitch Buchannon, CJ Parker and Stephanie Holden in the original Baywatch series – will star, the film doesn’t really have anything to do with Baywatch. They don’t have the rights. They can’t mention the word Baywatch. And they probably don’t need to.

Is David Hasselhoff’s New Show The Next ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’?

‘Hoff the Record’ is coming to channel Dave next year

‘Baywatch’ star and Germany’s favourite recording artist, David Hasselhoff, is coming back to TV, with a new six part ‘spoof-reality’ series beginning next year. ‘Hoff the Record’ (yes that’s the real title) will be shown on comedy channel Dave in the UK, though we’re assuming the German’s will be quick snap this one up too.

Image caption Jump in my car, The Hoff is coming to channel Dave

The series sees David, sorry the Hoff, portraying a ‘fictionalised version of himself’ as he tries to rebuild his career in the UK. It will be “semi-improvised’ and David will have some as-yet-to-be-named comedy co-stars helping him along the way. Of course the obvious comparison to make is with HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, starring Larry David. But does The Hoff really have what it takes to make the next 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'?

Nicole Eggert's Baywatch Run Wasn't As Smooth As It Looked On TV

The former Baywatch star dished on the restrictive weight clauses, the on-set conflict and assorted other Baywatch secrets.

Nicole Eggert’s Baywatch career is long over, so it’s only natural that the actress and her co-stars would want to dish on some behind-the-scenes secrets now, such as the highly restrictive weight clause in their contracts. You’d expect a show, known mostly for its extremely athletic cast and skimpy red swimsuits to have some sort of rules on appearance, but it’s still a surprise to learn just how harsh those rules were.

Nicole Eggert has managed to stay in shape even after Baywatch, as she demonstrated on Splash earlier this year.

Eggert, along with Tracy Bingham, a castmember between 1996 and 1998, both confirmed that any weight fluctuations beyond five pounds up or down, could get them booted off the show. The two were joined by former castmembers David Hasselhoff, Parker Stevenson, Brande Roderick and David Chokachi on ABC's Good Morning America, and all had some curious details to share.
