Busking beginnings
In 1962, Stewart started to busk with folk singer Raymond ‘Wizz’ Jones on the streets of London, where he sang and played the harmonica.
Over the next 18 months, Rod and Jones took their act to Brighton and Paris to perform - as he slept under bridges over the River Seine - before heading to Barcelona.
However, he was deported from Spain for vagrancy in 1963.
