Benedict Cumberbatch and Eddie Redmayne go head to head at this years BAFTAS with 'The Imitation Game' and 'The Theory Of Everything' leading nominations with thirteen categories between their respective flicks.

Cumberbatch and Redmayne themselves have both been selected as nominees for the Best Actor category, while 'The Imitation Game' and 'The Theory Of Everything' are also up for Best Film, Outstanding British film, Best Adapted screenplay, Best Costume design and Best Editing. Redmayne's Stephen Hawking biopic is additionally up for Best Director, Make-up and hair and Music, while Cumberbatch's take on Alan Turing's story is looking at awards for Production design and Sound.

Benedict Cumberbatch has barely let his engagement sink in and now another bombshell has been dropped. According to US reports, the actor and his fiancee Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.

Instead, an unknown source has apparently revealed the news that Hunter is pregnant to New York Post's 'Page Six' website. The 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards saw accolades going to some very well-deserved movies from the last year - with some even more well-deserved individuals picking them up.

 Unsurprisingly, the Ensemble Cast Award went to the actors from 'The Imitation Game'; a movie depicting the era-defining career of codebreaker Alan Turing during World War II and his subsequent arrest for being homosexual. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role, with the likes of Allen Leech, Matthew Beard and Alex Lawther - the latter of whom plays Turing's younger self. Directed by the BAFTA nominated Morten Tyldum, the movie has already been nominated for five Golden Globes, and it definitely looks to be in line for an Academy Award.

With 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies', Peter Jackson has completed a second trilogy of films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's classic novels 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord Of The Rings'. But fans are wondering if he might have one more trilogy up his sleeve, as Tolkien wrote plenty more material about Middle Earth, including the novel 'The Silmarillion', short stories and more appendices and indices.

DreamWorks Animation have been trying to get a film together for the penguins ever since the success of the 2005 film Madagascar. Since then the characters have featured in the subsequent Madagascar films but 'Penguins' are finally getting their own release this December. It appears Benedict Cumberbatch has thrown his hat in the ring for next year's Oscars, playing Alan Turing in the forthcoming drama The Imitation Game. The movie tells the story of the legendary code-breaker and his team at Bletchley Park, who raced against time to break the German's Enigma code during World War II.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will be returning to 221B Baker Street next year as Sherlock and Watson. The series' creators, Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, have confirmed the series will return for a special in 2015 followed by three episodes. But we're in for a long wait...

The special and the three episode fourth series will begin filming in January 2015 and will air later that year. Freeman has let slip that he suspects the series will be aired at Christmas time, as the previous two series have been. Speaking to the Telegraph, Freeman said "I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That's what I understand."

Benedict Cumberbatch will star alongside Johnny Depp in an upcoming film biopic of notorious US gangster and murderer, Whitey Bulger. Guy Pearce had initially landed the role of Billy Bulger, the brother of crime lord Whitey. Unfortunately, as the producers told Variety, "We were not able to make it work with Guy." Hence, Cumberbatch is replacing Pearce who was forced to drop out of the movie due to scheduling issues.

Following a week of sultry temperate and – for Britain – near tropical climes, the celebrities were out en masse to take in the sights at the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday (19th May).

The annual flower show, which is held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, attracted a vast array of famous faces. The Queen made her yearly visit to the show and found herself wandering through trenches, in a garden created to commemorate the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. The ‘No Man’s Land’ garden, features a crater hole as a pond which acts as a stark reminder of the damage made to, not only the soldiers embroiled in the conflict, but the land on which they fought.

We’re two films, five hours and one cliffhanger into The Hobbit film series and final installment, There And Back Again, is due out in December. This means we’re in for about eight months of speculation. The trailer isn’t even out yet, but looking back on the source material, there are a few predictions to be made about the final film. We'd put a spoiler warning here, but you know...the book has been out for almost 90 years, just saying.

This one might be less about Bilbo and more about... well, everyone else.

3. The Battle of the Five Armies. At this point in the franchise, we are yet to see Thorin get consumed by greed, which is one of the main plot points in The Hobbit. At one point, the King Under the Mountain should hole up with his gold and refuse to pay any compensation to the people of Laketown (who at this point are about to have their town torched by Smaug) or to the Wood Elves. The two armies are on their way to lay siege to the mountain, when they discover that there is an orc and warg army on the way too. Basically the culmination of the entire series.

It has been confirmed that the in-vogue actor would take the stage, swapping Sherlock and The Hobbit for the 17th century play.

UK newspaper The Sun has reported that Sherlock could have its season 4 premiere this Christmas. A source told the newspaper, “the BBC is desperate for a Sherlock Christmas Day special this year. It wants its biggest guns ready.”

PBS aired the return of Britain's most intriguing detective 'Sherlock Holmes', a modern-day twist on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Holmes) and Martin Freeman (Dr Watson). The television series aired its season three premiere on Sunday night (Jan 19th), and garnered their highest-ever rating figures.
