Too lazy to be a sex symbol
By 1978, Dolly's curves had made her a sex symbol whether she'd applied for the position or not.
She wasn't particularly impressed with the job description.
Speaking to The Washington Post in May 1978, she said: “I think I'm more like a cartoon character, this big hair flapping all over, big hips, big bosom. It's a gimmick. I don't want the responsibility of being a sex symbol. I'm too lazy to stay on a strict diet.”
