Phil Collins 'divorced his ex-wife by a fax machine'

At number seven is the claim that Phil Collins divorced his ex-wife Jill Tavelman via a fax machine.

The 'Sussudio' hitmaker and Jill were married from 1984 until 1986.

And the rumour that Collins, 74, divorced Jill, 69, over the device that allows people to send documents over phone lines "hurt [his] career".

It is alleged Collins and Jill - who have actress Lily Collins together - divorced after he had an affair with his former fiance, Lavinia Lang, in 1992.

They divorced in 1996.

The musician - who mentioned the myth in his 2016 autobiography 'Not Dead Yet' - told ABC News that year: "It really hurt my career or my public persona.

“And it was based on an untruth … so, I just thought it would be an opportunity just to lay it all out, and if I say it didn’t happen, I’m trusting that people will believe me.”
