Doja Cat has criticised comments suggesting Madonna should step back from performing, calling the backlash unfair and ageist.

In a TikTok video, the 30-year-old rapper said: “It’s interesting to me because you’re telling a musician who makes music, who performs it as a job, to stop doing it. I’m trying to wrap my head around that.”

She added that some of the criticism appears to stem from discomfort with “an older woman who feels sexy,” asking whether that is why some people want Madonna “off stage.”

Doja suggested detractors may have “something personal happening in there,” before noting the situation “is not funny.”

Meanwhile, Madonna, 67, is continuing work on her first album since Madame X and is reportedly interested in collaborating again with Britney Spears, 44.

The pair previously worked together on Me Against the Music and made headlines when they locked lips at the 2003 MTV VMAs performance.

A source told The Sun’s Bizarre column that Madonna believes Britney is “a brilliant artist” and had hoped she might contribute to a track or writing session.

The insider added that Madonna feels a strong connection to Britney and has remained a supporter during recent concerns about her wellbeing, noting that few people understand the pressures of global fame as she does.
