Britney Spears has reportedly sold her music catalogue in what insiders are calling a “landmark deal,” handing over her ownership share of hits including …Baby One More Time, Gimme More, I’m a Slave 4 U, Lucky, Sometimes and Stronger to publishing powerhouse Primary Wave.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the agreement was finalised on December 30. While the sale price has not been disclosed, sources told the outlet the figure is comparable to the $200 million deal Justin Bieber struck for his catalogue. The package is believed to include Spears’ artist royalties and publishing rights, though Variety reports her name and likeness rights were unlikely to be part of the deal unless the price was significantly higher.

Spears, 44, is said to be pleased with the sale and has been celebrating privately with her sons.

The news arrives weeks after the pop icon declared she would “never perform in the US again,” citing “extremely sensitive reasons.” In a recent Instagram post, she said she hopes instead to perform overseas: “I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon.”

Spears shares two sons — Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19 — with ex‑husband Kevin Federline. Though she didn’t specify which son she referenced in her post, she has previously praised Jayden’s musical talent, sharing a video of him playing piano earlier this year and writing: “I’m in awe of him. I can’t believe he’s mine.”

Britney’s last US performances were during her 2018 Piece of Me tour, following her hugely successful Las Vegas residency, which ran from 2013 to 2017. She was due to return to Vegas in 2019 for her Domination residency, but cancelled the run to focus on family.

At the time, she said: “I am dedicating my focus and energy to care for my family… I look forward to the time when I can be back on stage performing for all of you.”
