Sir Elton John says he and his live band are "sounding better than ever" since stepping back from full-scale tours.

The 78-year-old singer has repeatedly said that stepping back from the road almost three years ago has allowed him to reset his priorities, even as he continues to perform select shows around the world.

And, although he’s relishing the chance to return to the stage for major events, the I'm Still Standing hitmaker made it clear that nothing matters more than the quieter moments at home.

In an interview with the London Evening Standard to promote his new alcohol-free tipple, The Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs , he said: “Since stepping away from touring, the energy from these large shows has been absolutely unmatched. As a band, we’re playing at a very high level, sounding better than ever, and most importantly, we’re still genuinely enjoying making music together. I honestly can’t wait to be back in Brazil.”

Elton cherishes his time at home with his family - husband David Furnish, 63, and their sons Zachary, 15, and Elijah, 12 - more than anything else.

Asked about the year ahead, he said his goal is to "stay present" at home, adding: “I’ve spent decades racing ahead and always planning to the future — tours, albums, deadlines. These days, I am much better at enjoying the important things, and the most important is time at home with my family and friends.”

Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs will be poured at some of the UK's leading establishments, including The River Café in Hammersmith and Lilibet's in Mayfair. It will also be available nationwide at Sainsbury's and online at www.eltonjohnzero.com, priced at £10.00
