Robbie Williams has 'five albums' ready to go
Robbie Williams says he’s sitting on five unreleased albums and admits he’s become “addicted” to work.
Robbie Williams has "five" albums "in the chambers".
The 51-year-old pop veteran will release his 13th studio album, Britpop, on February 6, but he has teased that there is plenty more where that came from and he's gone self-indulgent on the follow-up.
Speaking on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, Robbie said: "I'm doing an album for me, me. I don't know if anybody would like it at all but I'm doing it for me, me, the next one."
The DJ asked: "So we're gonna get another album at some point soon?"
Robbie replied: "Yeah, listen, I've got five in the chambers, I'm ready."
A stunned Scott reacted: "Five?"
Robbie expanded: "Yeah, I'm ready to go. Yeah... I want to work, I want to go out there, I want to be at it. I'm still incredibly ambitious, and I love my wor,k and I love working."
The Angels hitmaker went on talk about being "addicted" to work and struggling with "balance".
If Britpop hits number one in the UK, Robbie will draw level with The Beatles for the most UK chart‑topping albums — a milestone that leaves the former Take That star battling serious impostor syndrome.
He said: "Yeah, I want that more than anything in my career right now, yeah, of course I do. Let me just qualify that by saying, I've broken the matrix. When that sort of record is mentioned, and it's me, I don't know how that's happened. I just know that it has. It massively makes my imposter syndrome come out to play, and the first thing I'd feel is embarrassed about it, and then the other bit, where the ego steps in, is going it's outside of my family, my kids, and my wife - the most important thing to me in the world. Yeah. There I said it, and yeah, I mean, and this is me just thinking out [loud], do I think I deserve that? No. Is it, you know, am I on the precipice of maybe achieving that? Yeah. Should I grab it with both arms? Yeah. And can I learn to be grateful and happy for it? Grateful, maybe, proud, I'm not sure yet. We'll see if that happens."
