The Sex Pistols are marking the 50th anniversary of punk with a new run of UK and Ireland shows this December, reuniting founding members Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock with vocalist Frank Carter for another round of high‑energy performances.

The Anarchy In The U.K. Tour will stop in Dublin on December 7, followed by Edinburgh on December 9, Glasgow on December 10, and two London dates at Brixton Academy on December 18 and the Eventim Apollo on December 20.

The announcement follows a wave of strong reviews for the band’s recent live return, with critics praising the renewed intensity Carter has brought to the group.

The tour arrives as punk reaches its 50‑year milestone.

In 1976, the Sex Pistols’ early London gigs - with original frontman Johnny Rotten (John Lydon) in tow - helped ignite a cultural shift that spread across the UK.

Their chaotic shows at The Marquee, The 100 Club and The Nashville became the foundation of the movement, and their infamous Manchester dates inspired future members of Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, The Fall and Buzzcocks to start bands of their own.

By the time they released Anarchy in the U.K. that October, the underground had broken into the mainstream.

Reflecting on that first year, Cook said: “It was kind of like a commando raid. I don't even think a lot of places knew we were playing there. We just turned up and set up. It was all a learning curve for us – getting out there and playing live – we were learning on the job.” He added that the band tapped into a national feeling of unrest: “The message was pretty simple – just have a go and get out there and do whatever you want to do.”

The current lineup first regrouped in 2024, with Carter stepping in on vocals.

Since then, they’ve played shows across Australia, Japan and Europe, including a standout performance at the Royal Albert Hall for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Cook says the chemistry has been strong: “We’ve had a blast. People want to come and see us play live. If I must say so myself, we are a great live band.” Jones summed up his approach more bluntly: “If it ain’t fun, I ain’t doing it. I’m too old for bull****.”

Before the December dates, the band will also appear at summer shows in Halifax, Manchester, Cardiff and Scarborough. Tickets for the Anarchy In The U.K. Tour go on general sale on February 27 at 9am here.
