Tomorrow X Together’s Yeonjun and Soobin have opened up about a period when their friendship wasn’t as effortless as fans might have assumed — and revealed that BTS star RM played a quiet but meaningful role in helping them work through it.

The pair discussed the shift in their dynamic during their appearance on the March 31 episode of Salon Drip, where Soobin said he wanted to finally address the tension fans may have picked up on.

He explained: “I wanted to clear things up about our relationship first."

Soobin confessed that “there was a time when things felt awkward between us.”

The unease began around the time Yeonjun launched his first solo activities, a chapter he now recognises was far more overwhelming than he let on.

Normally someone who talks things out, he admitted that he withdrew instead.

He said: “I used to talk things out when I was struggling, but back then I felt like I had to deal with everything on my own."

Feeling unable to handle the pressure alone, Yeonjun sought guidance from RM, who encouraged him to confront the issues he was avoiding.

Yeonjun recalled: “He told me, ‘I hope you face the things that make you uncomfortable.'"

That advice pushed him to address the strain with Soobin directly.

He said: “There was a time when Soobin and I argued and things felt awkward."

Soobin remembered sensing how much Yeonjun was holding in.

He said: “Yeonjun hyung isn’t the type to share his feelings, but it really showed."

Their long‑delayed conversation happened over drinks, and for Soobin, it was a moment of real vulnerability.

He said: “That day, while we were drinking together, he opened up honestly for the first time in years. I ended up crying. He felt like someone I worried about a lot, and although it was a difficult time for him, it also felt like he was growing into a better person.”
