Sir Paul McCartney sang an Elvis Presley song with Austin Butler on a train.

Elvis director Baz Luhrmann has revealed the star of his 2022 big screen biopic met the Beatles legend when they found themselves travelling on the same train together and Paul professed his love for The King despite years of rumours of bad blood between him and the Fab Four- and Baz went on to reveal the pair ended up singing an Elvis song together during the journey.

During an appearance on Julia Cunningham's SiriusXM show, Baz said: "Well Austin had the great experience of riding a train with Paul McCartney and Paul talked [to Austin] about ... Well, I won't go into all of it, but what [Paul] did say was, you know: 'Oh, we sort of remember it [the rift with Elvis] differently, you know' ...

"What he said to Austin was: 'Elvis sang this song. I can't remember what it is', and then Sir Paul, when they’re on the train, gets the song.

"He says: 'Well, I've got it here,’ and he plays it. I think he gets Austin to sing it with him, so Austin and Sir Paul are doing an Elvis duet ... "

Baz then added: "Release the duet!"

The moviemaker is diving back into the world of Elvis with his latest project - concert film and documentary EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert - which features footage from the King's 1969 residency at the International Hotel in Las Vegas as well as interviews with the singer himself.

Baz told PEOPLE: "Documentaries about Elvis tend to be people talking about him: ‘Well, Elvis is this.’

"As we go through the material, we recognise we have him in his prime … singing like never before seen. We found 40 minutes of [footage] of him actually talking about his life, himself.”

Baz also recently revealed he's got another Elvis project in the pipeline as he's working on plans to bring the King's story to the stage in a new theatre musica.

During a recent appearance on Magic Radio, Baz explained: "It’s being worked on, it’s happening. I don’t know if I was supposed to announce it but, hey, I just did ... We are, yes."
