James Morrison’s late partner Gill Catchpole posted on her local Facebook group on the eve of her death that she was hunting for a new home she said she needed “ASAP”.
James Morrison’s late partner was hunting for a new home “ASAP” at the time of her death.
The 39-year-old singer’s long-term love Gill Catchpole, who has daughters Elsie, 15, and five-year-old Ada-Rose with James, was found dead on Friday (05.01.24) and was searching for a new house the day before her shock passing, which apparently occurred at her family home in Whitminster, Gloucestershire.
She posted on her local Facebook group: “Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP.
“Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything. TIA.”
It is not known whether Gill was househunting for herself or a friend.
According to Mail Online, James and Gill married in 2006 but the caterer was pictured without her wedding ring last summer and had her relationship status as 'single' on Facebook.
The outlet added James was seen in a social media image five weeks ago without his wedding band.
Gill ran a café called the Cotswold Sandwich Box in Glouchestershire and had previously written about her excitement at starting the business after undergoing a kidney transplant in 2022.
The mum told in a November 2023 online post how “after many ups downs and heartache” she was “here owning my own business”.
Her operation came around the time her husband made a return to music with a greatest hits album and festival appearances.
James and Gill’s romance was packed with twists and turns.
The singer has previously revealed he fell in love with Gill at first sight – but she already had a boyfriend.
They first met when Gill moved into James’ mum’s house as a lodger, with her then-boyfriend.
James – who has also been left devastated by the deaths of his dad, brother and nephew – told the ‘White Wine Question Time’ podcast about their romance: “It wasn’t the easiest start, but I just still see it as a really romantic thing. I'm not very romantic.
“I’m not like: ‘I love romance!’
“But I do find certain things romantic and the fact that we met each other the way we did. It’s like a little fairy tale or something!”
Three months after Gill split from her boyfriend and he moved out, James started dating her.
But Gill’s ex found his way back into James life as he started dating his mum. The singer said: “He got me back. My mum rang me one day. And she said, ‘I’m out on a date. I wonder if you can pick me up?’
“I said, ‘Where are you,’ and she said, ‘I’m at John's house’, and I was like, ‘John’s house? Who’s John?’
“She said, ‘You know, Gill’s John.’ Okay – so I have to go and pick my mum up from my girlfriend’s ex’s house, and it was the most awkward thing!”
