Early life and first steps in music

King displayed her incredible gift for music at a tender age.

Following her kindergarten studies, at the age of four she was directly taken to the second-grade classroom after proving her skills with numbers and words. The latter became a key element in her music career.

She became skilled on the piano before reaching the age of 10.

By the 1950s she had already formed a band called The Co-Sines whilst studying at high school.

King also attended college with future music star Paul Simon as both contributed to the vibrant songwriting scene.
