Environmental and political activism

Away from music, King is involved in charity and environmental work.

Her passion to help the planet was first sparked in the 1970s when she relocated to Idaho, and it was in 1990 that she began to support the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, in order to preserve the Northern Rocky Mountains.

King is also a supporter of the Democratic Party and campaigned for John Kerry in his unsuccessful presidential election campaign in 2004.
