Melanie C confirms there are NO plans for Spice Girls to reunite for 30th anniversary of Wannabe and Spice
There will be no Spice Girls reunion in 2026, but Sporty Spice is "optimistic" that the girls will get back together in the future.
Melanie C has clarified that the Spice Girls have no reunion plans in place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut single, Wannabe, or their first album, Spice.
Despite the constant speculation surrounding the iconic girl group, Sporty Spice has dealt the blow that the 2 Become 1 hitmakers - completed by Mel B, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, and Geri Horner - are not planning to hit the stage this year to mark the milestone.
Appearing on The Smallzy Show, she said: “So July will mark the 30th anniversary of Wannabe being released, and then later in the year comes Spice, the first album. So yeah, it’s a big one. And no, there is no reunion. We’re communicating all the time, and we want to do something — who knows when? But I still feel very optimistic, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll see the Spice Girls together in the future.”
The girls reunited without Victoria for the Spice World Tour in 2019.
The Royal Mint is, however, marking 30 years of Girl Power with an official Spice Girls coin.
The £5 collectable features a silhouette of all five members with their real signatures, designed by artist Ffion Rees, and pays tribute to the best‑selling girl group of all time.
In a first for the Mint’s Music Legends series, fans can pick their favourite Spice Girl.
The Brilliant Uncirculated Colour Coin comes in five packaging designs — Baby, Ginger, Posh, Scary, and Sporty — each limited to 15,000 worldwide. The Mint worked with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s merchandise division, and the band to create the commemorative design.
The band said: "It's a huge honour for us to be celebrated by The Royal Mint and follow in the footsteps of some true music icons. 2026 marks a special year for us as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our debut single and album. We could never have imagined that we would be recognised in this way - the first female group to be given their very own coin...what a moment for Girl Power!"
The Spice Girls join Freddie Mercury, Sir Elton John, David Bowie, George Michael, Dame Shirley Bassey and Sir Paul McCartney in the Music Legends series, which has reached collectors in more than 100 countries.
