Courtney Love's life story to be told in upcoming documentary Antiheroine
Courtney Love has promised an "unfiltered and unapologetic" insight into her life story.
Courtney Love is preparing to step back into the spotlight with a brand-new documentary, Antiheroine, which has just been confirmed for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival lineup.
The project is helmed by filmmakers Edward Lovelace and James Hall, the duo behind the acclaimed 2014 feature The Possibilities Are Endless, which chronicled Edwyn Collins’ journey of recovery following a stroke.
Production comes via Dorothy St. Pictures, the team responsible for high-profile titles including Netflix’s Victoria Beckham series and the 2023 hit Pamela: A Love Story.
According to the official synopsis, Antiheroine will explore the former Hole frontwoman's enduring influence on rock and pop, while capturing her present-day chapter: sober, reflective, and preparing to release new music for the first time in more than ten years. The film promises to present her story “unfiltered and unapologetic".
The synopsis reads: “Singer, songwriter, and actor Courtney Love has long had an impact on rock and pop culture. Now sober and set to release new music for the first time in over a decade, Courtney is ready to reveal her story, unfiltered and unapologetic.”
As for the new solo album, it will mark Kurt Cobain's widow's first record since 2004's America's Sweetheart.
Courtney previously revealed that she was working with Echo and The Bunnymen's Will Sargent on the collection.
She later spilled that her former Hole bandmate, Melissa Auf Der Maur, will make an appearance.
