Courtney Love has sparked major reunion rumours after sharing a mysterious new video featuring former Hole bassist Melissa Auf der Maur — the latest development in a long, winding timeline of hints, comments and near‑reunions stretching back more than a decade.

The speculation reignited on Tuesday (03.03.26) when Love posted a slow‑motion clip of Auf der Maur dancing to Hole’s 1998 hit Malibu.

Love captioned the post: “So do we tell the kids about the tour?” Auf der Maur added fuel in the comments, writing: “It starts with eternal love…”

The teaser follows a series of steps toward a reunion over the past several years.

In 2019, Love first revealed that she and the classic lineup had been discussing getting back together.

Speaking to The Guardian, she said: “We are definitely talking about it. There’s nothing wrong with honouring your past; I’ve just kind of discovered that. If you don’t, people will rewrite history and you will become an inconvenient woman.”

Auf der Maur echoed the sentiment earlier that same year, saying she would “love to have a piece of our glory back.”

She explained: “We’re older, we’re mellow. I feel this would be the moment to do it… Now it’s been exactly 20 years since I’ve left the band, and I want a piece of our glory back. Hole was a very good band, and I want to let everybody know it’s important that women in rock music also get remembered, even if they were in the shadow of their husband.”

Hole’s classic lineup — Love, Auf der Maur, Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel — last performed a major show together in 1998.

They briefly reunited in 2012 at an after‑party for the documentary Hit So Hard, playing Miss World and Over the Edge. The band officially split in 2002, and Love later released 2010’s Nobody’s Daughter under the Hole name, despite it originating as a solo project.

Momentum toward a reunion accelerated again in 2024, when Love and Auf der Maur returned to the studio together for the first time in more than 20 years. Later that year, they appeared together on 070 Shake’s cover of Tim Buckley’s Song to the Siren. Around the same time, Love hinted onstage in London that she would be returning with Hole “later.”

During a surprise performance with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong — where they played Cheap Trick’s He’s A Whore and Surrender, plus Tom Petty’s Even The Losers — Love told the crowd: “Later… I’ll be back in Hole.”

With Love’s latest Instagram teaser and Auf der Maur’s cryptic reply, fans are now more convinced than ever that a full reunion may finally be on the horizon — more than two decades after Hole last performed together.
