Metallica 'blown away' by Japanese singer Ado's unique cover of Enter Sandman at Summer Sonic
Metallica said they were “blown away” after Ado opened and closed Summer Sonic with Enter Sandman, praising the 23‑year‑old’s viral cover as one of the most unique takes they’ve ever seen.
Metallica were "blown away" by Japanese pop artist Ado's cover of Enter Sandman at Summer Sonic.
The 23‑year‑old singer opened and closed her August 15 Tokyo set with the 1991 metal classic, and Metallica quickly took notice - and were clearly impressed.
They wrote on X: "Watching younger generations find their way to our music never gets old... It's one of the best parts of doing this. But we've never seen it done quite like Ado just did it. Opening AND closing Summer Sonic with 'Enter Sandman'?! We're blown away. Thank you!"

It’s worth noting that Ado performs without showing her face, keeping her identity hidden by appearing only in silhouette onstage, and she even asks fans not to film her during concerts.
Many fans took to the comments section of the TikTok recording of the performance to call out the user for filming the whole song.
Others pointed out that without the video going viral, Ado wouldn't have caught the attention of Metallica.
