A woman who claimed to be Freddie Mercury’s secret daughter has died at the age of 48, following a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer.

Known publicly only as B, her story was revealed last year in Love, Freddie, a book written with author Lesley‑Ann Jones.

B’s widow, identified as Thomas, confirmed her death to the Daily Mail and said she passed away peacefully, leaving behind two young sons. Her ashes were scattered in the Alps.

Jones paid tribute to B, explaining that she had been ill since childhood and chose to share her story because she knew her time was limited.

The pair worked together for four years to complete the book, which claimed B was fathered by Mercury after a brief relationship with a friend’s wife. The account was said to be based on diaries B believed were written by her father.

The claims have been disputed by Mercury’s close friend Mary Austin, who previously said she had never known of any child or diaries linked to the Queen frontman.

B, who lived in France and worked as a doctor, chose to keep her identity private to protect her family and patients. She wrote in the book that she struggled with the public mourning of Mercury after his death in 1991, saying she had to grieve her father privately while the world grieved the star.
