TWICE's CHAEYOUNG gets 'vulnerable' like never before on debut solo album
CHAEYOUNG bares all on her deeply vulnerable debut solo album LIL FANTASY vol. 1.

TWICE's CHAEYOUNG says her debut solo album LIL FANTASY vol. 1 sees her get "vulnerable" like never before.
The 26-year-old K-pop idol, who released the record on September 12, found herself embarking on a healing journey while making the deeply personal collection.
She told GRAMMY.com: "I didn't really get a lot of chances to be vulnerable in public. I used to be the kind of person who thought, Why speak those feelings out loud when it's not really necessary to talk about it?
"However, while making this album, I dug into my personal stories and mustered up the courage to get personal. There were melodies that provoked my vulnerabilities to come out. I was really inclined to really dig into telling my personal story, and I'm just happy to get the chance to do so."
Regardless of how well the album does, CHAEYOUNG will always be "proud" of the songs.
She said: "At this moment, [commercial success] really doesn't matter. I am very proud of what I made.
"I know that this album [is] filled with songs that some people would like, and some that people would hate, but these are my babies and I love them. This is the album that made me grow as a person."
She is the fourth member of TWICE to go solo, following Nayeon in 2022, Jihyo in 2023, and Tzuyu in 2024.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she touched on why it was important to show the "real me".
She said: “I don’t think I put a clear line between my identity as an idol and my identity as just a person.
“Of course I am a very responsible person, and I feel a heavy responsibility as a member of TWICE. But at the same time, I don’t try to differentiate who I am every day from my life as a celebrity. That is why I really do try to speak my voice as a member of TWICE whenever I do interviews [and with my music]. I feel that if I truly show my colours, maybe people will realise that this is the real me. I know it’s a slow process, but that’s what I hope for.”
