George was born in 1943 and hailed from working class roots in Liverpool.

He was born to bus conductor Harold and shop assistant Louise, who was a massive music lover and encouraging of her son's talents from the start.

Model Pattie Boyd - who was married to Harrison between 1966 and 1977 - said in the book ‘Wonderful Tonight’: "All she wanted for her children is that they should be happy, and she recognised that nothing made George quite as happy as making music."
