It looks as though Disney are looking for their leading cast members for the upcoming Star Wars reboot. Episode VII is set to be the biggest film of 2015, but you – yes you – can pop along to an audition and try to bag a lead role.

Although the casting call just says “new Disney movie,” most media outlets have taken this to mean Star Wars. But fans of the sci-fi franchise will be hoping it isn’t, as the descriptions for the prospective characters don’t really sound that good.

Rachel: “Was quite young when she lost her parents. With no other family, she was forced to make her way in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17, she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humor and guns to get by.

"Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead."

Star Wars Episode VII to film despite scripting issues

Thomas: “Has grown up without a father’s influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn’t have the strongest sense of himself. Despite this, he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed. He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can’t take life too seriously."

Uses humor and guns? Doesn’t have the strongest sense of himself? See what we mean? Bad, bad, bad.

It’s difficult to imagine the fate of such a beloved film series resting on the shoulders of two young, unknown actors, but it’s not as though the original films didn’t hire un-tested actors to fill their roles. The call was put out on Twitter by Claire Curry as part of the @UKopencall account. She seems pretty enthusiastic, reminding everyone that the first call will be in Bristol.

Star Wars Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, is set for release in summer 2015.
