Gwyneth Paltrow (born September 27, 1972) is an Academy Award, Golden Globe- and double Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actress, as well as a chart-topping singer in Australia.
She is perhaps best known for her roles in the films Se7en, Shakespeare in Love, Iron Man and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
She is married to Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and has had two children with him.
Early career: 1990-1994
Paltrow made her professional stage debut in 1990 and her debut on film in 1991, in Shout. Later that year, she played the role as the young Wendy in Steven Spielberg's Hook (1991).
Before her breakthrough Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in Malice and also Flesh and Bone.
Paltrow's breakthrough came when she starred in Se7en (1995), opposite Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. The film was hugely successful commercially and critically.
This was bolstered in 1996 when she starred in Emma, where she received positive critical acclaim, particularly in the UK for her impressive English accent.
Two years later, Gwyneth Paltrow starred in Shakespeare in Love. The film earned more than $100 million in box office receipts and numerous awards. This included Paltrow receiving the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role and also an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Recent Years: 2000-Present
Until recently, Paltrow has had a relatively low-profile, yet steady, film career with a few critically acclaimed film roles, including Proof (2005) and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001).
Audiences got their first taste of Paltrow's singing ability with the 2000 release of Duets, with singer Huey Lewis. Towards the end of the film they perform a cover version of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'" which would eventually be released and go to number one in Australia, while Gwyneth Paltrow's rendition of the Kim Carnes classic "Bette Davis Eyes" reached number three.
Since winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for Shakespeare in Love, Paltrow's film success has been less noteworthy, including several cameo roles, such as her appearance in Love and Other Disasters, Running with Scissors and Infamous.
Despite some low key appearances Paltrow's leading role in 2008's Iron Man may have restored her superstar status.
Paltrow gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Apple Blythe Alison Martin, five months later, on May 14, 2004, in London.
Her second child, Moses Bruce Anthony Martin, was born on April 8, 2006 in New York City. Her son's first name was explained as the song that her husband wrote for her shortly before their secret wedding, called "Moses".
Paltrow is good friends with Madonna and they even share the same personal trainer.
On September 27, 2006 (her 34th birthday) Gwyneth sang a duet with rap artist Jay-Z during his concert at the Royal Albert Hall. She sang the chorus for Song Cry.
Paltrow is a descendent of a famous 17th century Polish rabbi, David HaLevi Segal of Krakow.
Actor Simon Pegg is Paltrow's daughter's Godfather.
The couple are still close despite their failed marriage.
It's always depressing when Hollywood power couples find themselves moving on from each other, but it softens the blow to know that they still make an awesome team. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are just such an example, as the actress admits that her ex-husband is now more like a brother to her since 'consciously uncoupling'.
Gwyneth Paltrow maintains a strong bond with the father of her children
When celebrity marriages break-up, the word 'amicably' is thrown in there more often than not; a word that usually only fuels the cynic within us. However, Paltrow and Martin appear to be truly still amicable, baffling the media with photos of the pair taking vacations and day trips together with their children Apple, 11, and Moses, 9, in the months following their separation.

Lowe received the honour in a small, star-studded ceremony on Tuesday.
Hollywood mainstay Rob Lowe has been honoured for his contribution to cinema with a star on the iconic Walk of Fame. He unveiled the 2,567th such paving stone in a small star-studded ceremony on Tuesday (December 8th).
Lowe, 51, rose to prominence in the 1980s with films like St. Elmo’s Fire, Oxford Blues and The Outsiders as one of the so-called ‘Brat Pack’, alongside a new wave of actors like Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson and Ally Sheedy.
However, Lowe transcended that label where some of his cohort failed, and went on to star in a number of other memorable movies and TV shows, including Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Wayne’s World and, most recently, stealing the limelight in Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra as a pill-popping plastic surgeon.

It's the first picture of the ex-couple since they broke up in March 2014.
They may have ‘consciously uncoupled’ over a year ago, but Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are determined to show that it doesn’t mean they can’t still do family events together as they shared a picture of themselves and their wider family settling down together for Thanksgiving dinner.
It’s the first time that the ex-couple, who separated in March 2014 while grabbing headlines for that marvellous phrase used on Paltrow’s website Goop, have shared a picture of themselves together since their split.
Also in the big family picture, posted on Instagram on Thursday (November 26th) were their two children, 11 year old Apple and 9 year old Moses. In accordance with their parents’ wishes for privacy, their faces are rarely seen in paparazzi shots, so this was a rare treat for fans of celeb children.
The former couple's two children, Apple and Moses, both feature on 'A Head Full of Dreams', as do Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy.
They might have gone their separate ways with their legendary ‘conscious uncoupling’ over a year ago, but Chris Martin has given an illustration of his continued closeness to his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow by announcing that she provides guest vocals on Coldplay’s new album.
The former couple’s two children – daughter Apple, 11, and son Moses, 9 – also feature on the band’s seventh album A Head Full of Dreams, according to the singer, as well as Blue Ivy Carter, the 3 year old daughter of his celebrity pals Jay Z and Beyonce. Previously announced guest vocalists have included Beyonce herself, Noel Gallagher and Swedish chanteuse Tove Lo.

It's unusual for celebrities to be so open with the public about their break-ups, but Gwyneth Paltrow has been candid from the start about her amicable separation from Coldplay's Chris Martin. So much so that she gave listeners a rare insight into the split at Nicole Richie's Pearl xChange.
Gwyneth Paltrow is open and honest about failed marriage
During a Q&A at the Los Angeles event, Paltrow confessed her feelings about coming to terms with the end of her marriage in 2014, when she and Martin separated after 10 years, officially filing for divorce in 2015 and describing their split as 'conscious uncoupling'.

"I went through some big changes... everyone knows about them,” Martin said. "[I was able to] figure out where I've gone wrong in my way of looking at the world. A few years ago I was in a low place in my life and was feeling kind of down and confused.”
Gwyneth Paltrow discussed the gender pay gap in Hollywood.
Gwyneth Paltrow is adding her name to the growing list of female (and many male) actors who are appalled with the substantial gender pay gap in Hollywood. The 43-year-old Mortdecai actor and Goop founder hit back at the film industry for its inequality and sexism during a recent interview. She also used one very prominent example to prove her point.

Speaking about THAT article to Fast Company, the American actress explained that it was her Goop editorial director who decided to use the phrase.
After popularising the rather ludicrous phrase “conscious uncoupling” as a euphemism for her divorce from her ex-husband, Gwyneth Paltrow has claimed in a new interview that it wasn’t actually her who coined the term.
The 42 year old actress explained to Fast Company that it was the editorial director of her lifestyle site Goop, Elise Loehnen, who came up with the phrase in a headline and didn’t warn her in advance of the article going live.
