Renée Rapp “loves” writing music but doesn’t find releasing it particularly exciting.

The 26-year-old singer-songwriter and actress has confessed she finds it "confusing" mentally releasing music when she has moved on from the subject.

When asked if she thinks that Bite Me is the record she should have made at this point in her career, Reneé told Perfect Magazine: “When I was making it, when I finished recording? Absolutely. Like, five thousand per cent. I remember just feeling so elated with the quality of music that I’d made and that we’d put together. Like, f***, it was exactly what I wanted to make. I was so happy.”

But on the process of releasing her music, she revealed: “I also, historically, will say that I love writing music and detest putting music out. Because once you put it out, it’s really hard to hold on to how you feel about it, even if it’s good.

“I remember when Leave Me Alone came out and everyone really liked it. For some reason, I liked it less. It’s confusing. I was like, this is such a sleazy little pop record, of quality. And now I’m like, I don’t know. I don’t sit in things well. I don’t have that as a person. I have come to find that out about myself, that I f****** love making music, but I mentally don’t do well releasing it.”

Despite not feeling excited about releasing music, Renée’s new album has been a major success. Bite Me shot straight to No.1 on the UK Official Albums Chart and garnered an impressive 22 million on-demand streams in its first week following its August 2025 release, debuting at No.3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

In addition to her success as a singer, Renée has also stood out as an actress. She starred in Mean Girls: The Musical on Broadway, playing the iconic Regina George. She later reprised the role for the 2024 musical movie adaptation. After the show closed due to COVID-19, she was later picked to star in the HBO comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls.

She said: “Making music is the only thing that makes me solely happy, I just happen to be quite good at the other things. And I love doing them. When I was acting in that TV show [The Sex Lives of College Girls], I thought, ‘I don’t really understand why I’m here. I don’t think I’m very good at this’.

“But I knew that I was a great singer and I knew that I loved singing and that that was my best form of communication. I found the thing I love. That’s enough.”

Renné’s tour kicks off on March 11 in Belgium and will continue with shows in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Ireland, Poland, and Spain.

The tour also includes two shows at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on March 19 and 20, with the second show added due to overwhelming demand, and a show in Manchester on March 18.
