Listen: Katherine Jenkins adds her Golden touch to KPop Demon Hunters hit
Katherine Jenkins has teamed up with her daughter on her cover of Golden.
Katherine Jenkins has unveiled her orchestral reimagining of KPop Demon Hunters hit single Golden.
The cover has been released today (19.12.25) ahead of her debut performance of the song at this year’s Royal Variety Performance, airing Sunday (21.12.25) on ITV and ITVX.
The classical star has transformed the global K‑pop favourite into a sweeping, cinematic piece, reshaping the song through a lush orchestral arrangement designed to appeal to fans of the original and to listeners who may not usually gravitate toward the genre. Jenkins set out to create a version that feels universal — something parents and children can enjoy together — and even brought that idea into the recording itself by featuring a children’s choir that includes her own daughter.
She said, “With a seven and 10-year-old, Xander and Aaliyah are always playing the music from KPop Demon Hunters at home. Again and again, Golden struck me as something almost operatic, like an aria waiting to be uncovered. That idea stayed with me, and eventually became this recording.”
She said the emotional scope of the arrangement is what makes the project special, continuing: “What I love most about this version is how it bridges generations. It’s a piece parents and children can share together, and perhaps a gentle way into the song for those who may not usually engage with K-pop, but are drawn to melody, lyricism, and orchestral storytelling.”
She said the personal connection runs even deeper thanks to her daughter’s involvement, concluding: “To weave that sentiment into the music itself, the children’s choir featured on the track includes my own daughter, which makes this release especially close to my heart.”
