Chappell Roan hits reset and becomes 'boring again', reveals she's learning Spanish
Chappell Roan is embracing childlike joys to reset after the whirlwind of fame.
Pop sensation Chappell Roan has revealed she’s hitting reset on her whirlwind life — by learning Spanish and embracing being “boring” again.
The rising star has revealed she’s been immersing herself in Rosalía tracks and ’80s Spanish synth wave, saying the new influences are sparking fresh inspiration.
She told Harper’s BAZAAR: “I’m learning Spanish, so I’ve been listening to a lot of Rosalía and some ’80s synth wave songs in Spanish. It’s inspiring me in a lot of ways."
Roan admitted she’s craving a slower pace after her breakout year, confessing she wants to permit herself to make mistakes without fear of losing momentum.
She explained: “I want to grow a softer heart. I want to make bad songs and be okay with it and make it out the other side, not thinking I’m a bad writer. I want to take a break and not cave into the illusion that ‘If I say no, this will all disappear.’”
The Pink Pony Club - who has been open about struggling with the pressures of fame and her battle with depression - singer added she misses her friends and longs for simple pleasures like bike rides, bad movies, and concerts that make her feel like a kid again.
She said: “I want to feel like a boring person who feels free to mess up because no one’s watching or cares what I do."
But fans needn’t worry — Roan insists she’s not walking away from music.
She said: “I’m not sure what fans can look forward to, but I can assure them that I am not stopping.”
