Skindred have dropped their latest single You Got This, the title track from their newly announced ninth studio album, due April 17.

The Welsh ragga metal pioneers are back with another dose of high-energy fusion metal, punk, and dancehall, and a high-octane music video to boot.

The track’s message of resilience was inspired by a moment frontman Benji Webbe witnessed at the gym, where a stroke survivor was encouraged by his trainer with the phrase, “You got this.”

Benji explained: “I was watching from a distance, and I could see the struggle and the pain, but in that moment, I knew he had got this,” recalls Benji. “It’s such an empowering statement and it applies to so many battles that everybody faces: it could be a recovery from a stroke, or it could be studying for your exams at school. For me, having songs that lift people who are going through tough times is the most important thing. I feel like that's what I'm put on this planet to do.”

The single sets the tone for the upcoming album, which follows the band’s 2023 breakthrough Smile. That record reached No. 2 on the UK Official Album Chart and earned Skindred major accolades, including Best Alternative Music Act at the MOBOs and Best UK Act at the Heavy Music Awards.

Produced by Grammy winner Jay Ruston - known for his work with Desmond Child and Corey Taylor - the new album promises an all-killer-no-filler experience. Drummer Arya Goggin praised Ruston’s versatility, saying: “It was working with someone who didn’t just stay in one lane, which is exactly what Skindred has always been about.”

After playing their biggest headline show to date at OVO Arena Wembley last year, Skindred's ambitions remain bold. Benji has his sights set on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage or Coachella, while guitarist Mikey Demus says there is still a "whole fight ahead of us" to get Skindred's music in new ears.

He reflected: “When you start a band, you don’t think for a second that you’re going to headline Wembley. I don’t feel like we made it happen; the audience made it happen by committing to be there and travelling so far to come. When you’re in a band, you’re always looking at the next thing, and it can be hard to be like, wow, what’s happening right now is amazing. There are still so many people out there who should know us but have never heard of us. So, we’ve got this whole fight ahead of us still.”
