Over the last few months we’ve seen a host of celebrity divorces and rumours of marital discord. In case you’ve missed any, here’s a rundown of the most shocking splits of Summer 2015.
For those living in the Western hemisphere, summer is drawing to a close. Unfortunately, this summer has been filled with news of celebrity divorces and separation rumours concerning some of the most beloved stars on the planet. In case you’ve missed any – let’s face it, there’s been a lot to keep up with – here’s a recap.
Affleck and Garner were the first of this summer’s divorce victims as they confirmed their split in a joint statement at the end of June. Affleck and Garner married in 2005 and they have three children together. Their separation appears fairly amicable, despite rumours of Affleck’s alleged infidelity, and they continue living together and enjoying family days out with their kids.
The country music superstars announced their split in July. The reason for their separation has yet to be revealed by either Shelton or Lambert but there are rumours of infidelity circulating. They publically announced their split in a joint statement in which they asked for privacy.
It’s easy to forget Kardashian and Odom were still married until fairly recently considering they announced their separation in December 2013. However, they only finalised their divorce in July and Kardashian is now a legally single woman. She’s currently dating another NBA player, James Harden.
Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock
In August, the country music singer and Blackstock announced they were divorcing after 26 years of marriage. The former couple released a statement in which they confirmed their split. It is uncertain if they are divorcing as yet but they plan on continuing their professional relationship with Blackstock as McEntire’s manager.
Rumours started circulating at the end of July when an anonymous source speaking to a media outlet claimed there was strife in the Smith-Pinkett household. The two actors have been married since 1997 and have two children together: Jaden and Willow. Their fans were so shocked by the rumours that Smith, who does not normally respond to gossip, issued a statement in which he vehemently denied he and Pinkett-Smith were divorcing.
Miss Piggy and Kermit
After four decades of being in a high-profile relationship, Miss Piggy and Kermit decided to call it a day at the beginning of August. Their split will be the focus of the upcoming ABC revival of The Muppets. Whether the two Muppets can be reconciled on the show remains to be seen. Kermit has recently caused controversy with his new girlfriend who looks remarkably like a younger Miss Piggy…
Megan Fox and Austin Green
Status: Rumoured Separation
Reports at the end of August suggested Fox and Green were divorcing after five years of marriage. Legal documents obtained by a U.S. media outlet allegedly show that Fox filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences. Their split is reportedly amicable with the two living in the same house and continuing to care for their two children. Neither of their representatives has yet to confirm their split.
The supermodel and the NFL star, who have been married since 2009, are rumoured to be having a rocky time at home. A source, speaking to Us Weekly, claims the couple have been arguing a lot over the past few months. Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback, was suspended from playing for four games back in May. The troubles at home began at around the same time when the source claims Brady “started acting out” on Bundchen. 35-year-old Bundchen has allegedly sought the advice of a divorce lawyer but these reports have not been confirmed by either Bundchen or Brady.
Giada De Laurentiis and Todd Thompson
Celebrity chef De Laurentiis and her husband of 12 years have finalised their divorce in the past few days. The Italian born chef and Thompson separated last year but, after lengthy divorce proceedings, finalised their divorce earlier this week. As People reports, Thompson has got a pretty good deal as he will receive 50% of the royalties from the sale of De Laurentiis’ cookery books.
