Nine Inch Nails' inaugural music and film festival has been axed due to "logistical challenges and complications".

Set to make its grand debut at Los Angeles Equestrian Center on November 8, Future Ruins promised a special performance of NIN members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ soundtrack catalogue, including The Social Network, Watchmen, Gone Girl, Soul, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Challengers, Empire Of Light, and more.

The stacked lineup also included Tim Burton's regular collaborator Danny Elfman, John Carpenter and Questlove.

The team plan to "re-think and re-revaluate" how they can pull off the event to sure it's everything they intended it to be.

A statement by the organisers read: “Unfortunately Future Ruins will not move forward this year. The reality is, due to a number of logistical challenges and complications, we feel we cannot provide the experience that’s defined what this event was always intended to be.

“Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-think and re-evaluate. Meanwhile, we are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate all the interest and support. Refunds will be automatically issued and ticket holders will receive an email with more information.”

The industrial rock band's website teased that the festival would feature: "Some of the most powerful music of our time has never been heard live—until now."
