The Rolling Stones are "almost done" making their new album, Keith Richards' son Marlon has revealed.

The Jumpin' Jack Flash rockers are said to have been recording a new record in London, which would mark a follow-up to the 2023 album Hackney Diamonds – which earned the legendary band the Best Rock Album gong at the Grammys earlier this year.

In an interview for the new Rolling Stones edition of Record Collector magazine, Marlon Richards – the son of Stones guitarist Keith – replied when asked what the Gimme Shelter band are currently working on: "They're in town right now, recording.

"They're in Chiswick or somewhere like that; I think they're nearly done. They still maintain these ridiculous hours: after lunch until, like, two in the morning. I'd rather be somewhere else at that time of night! Unless you're in it, it's pretty boring."

Quizzed on what specifically The Rolling Stones – made up of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood - were doing, Marlon said: "I guess an album – they have enough left over from the last one.

"They gave them a Grammy, so now they're all hyped up on that: 'Oh, yeah – we can do another one like that! We've got more like that if you want...'

"I think they're doing the follow-up."

Marlon, an actor and film producer, also suggested that the Stones could tour Europe soon.

He said: "I think they're planning a tour of Europe."

Meanwhile, Keith revealed last year that he hasn't listened to rock music since the 1960s and far prefers the blues.

The 81-year-old rocker said: "No. I never listened to rock bands. I grew up, I played Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters.

"I sold it back to America.

"That's what we did, and then we started to add our own things to it but I'm not really interested in what followed us."

Keith isn't a fan of rap music either, as he says that the genre is "for tone-deaf people".

He told New York Daily News: "What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there.

"All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another."
