English singer songwriter Jo Birchall's debut single, 'Wonderful' will be released on August 22nd, through the label Portobello. It is taken from her upcoming debut album, 'Something to Say', which will be released in autumn this year and which was produced by Brian Rawling, who has produced for the likes of Lemar, Cher and Enrique Iglesias.
The video for Wonderful features Jo sitting in a beach house, interspersed with shots of her walking along the beach. The dreamy, colourful feel is a perfect fit for the summery pop song.
Jo Birchall was originally signed to Decca in 2006. She had originally recorded an album with the help of her mentors Eliot Kennedy and Take That singer Gary Barlow. She was touring with Irish boy band Westlife and performing on charity shows such as 'Children in Need'. However, things changed for Jo when Decca became included in a merger, leaving her with no label and Gary Barlow rejoined Take That, leaving her with no mentor.
Jo moved to London and started to write new songs. A chance meeting in the street one day led her to Smile Entertainment and to Adam Hollywood and Nick Phillips - the former General Manager of Warner Music and the former Chairman of both Warner Music and Universal Music, respectively. Both men have also been linked to Madonna, Josh Groban and Michael Buble, to name but a few.
