Woody Allen - Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway To Close
The stage adaptation of Woody Allen's 1994 crime caper Bullets Over Broadway is set to take its final bow.
The musical, which marked Scrubs actor Zach Braff's Broadway debut, will stage its last performance on 24 August (14), the producers announced on Tuesday (22Jul14).
Producers Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg made the announcement of its closing in a statement which reads: "We are tremendously proud of this show and every single person involved with it. It has been a true pleasure, and we know that Bullets Over Broadway will have a long life in future productions to come."
The adaptation of Allen's film failed to impress reviewers when it opened at the St. James Theatre in April (14), and despite earning six Tony Award nominations earlier this year (14), producers of the show reportedly lost most or all of the $14 million (£8.2 million) capital to stage the production.
The production is the fourth major musical based on a movie to close in the 2013-2014 season, following Big Fish, The Bridges of Madison County and Rocky.
