The ‘Ghostbusters’ star is now back on Twitter, but says she never really left.
Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones stopped by ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ on Thursday (July 21) and opened up about the harassment and bullying she’d gone through on Twitter recently. It all began earlier this week when Jones exposed users who had sent her racially abusive tweets, which eventually led to journalists Milo Yiannopoulos being permanently banned from the site.
Leslie Jones appeared on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ on Thursday.
"First of, I just want to let everyone know that I did not leave Twitter," she began by stating. "I just signed out because I wanted to deal with what was going on, and then I went to bed and I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'They said I left Twitter! Wait! I didn't leave!’”
Writer Milo Yiannopoulos has been banned from the site after he was accused of leading a harassment campaign against the ‘Ghostbusters’ star.
Twitter has permanently banned right-wing writer Milo Yiannopoulos days after actress Leslie Jones revealed the extend of the racist abuse she’d been receiving on the social media site. Yiannopoulos, a writer for Breitbart, had been accused of inciting his followers to send the actress racist and abusive messages.
Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones revealed the abuse she’d suffered on Twitter earlier this week.
In a statement to Buzzfeed, a spokesperson for Twitter said: “People should be able to express diverse opinions and beliefs on Twitter. But no one deserves to be subjected to targeted abuse online, and our rules prohibit inciting or engaging in the targeted abuse or harassment of others.”
It's been more than 30 years since the Ghostbusters first hit the big screen with a then-original mix of comedy and supernatural action. Intriguingly, this new film is neither a sequel nor a remake; it's a reboot of the franchise, which loosely adapts the original 1984 premise to all-new characters. Thankfully, the screenplay is smart and funny, and the cast is flat-out hilarious.
It opens as university professor Erin (Kristen Wiig) sees her hopes for tenure evaporate when a book she wrote years ago with her childhood pal Abby (Melissa McCarthy) resurfaces, affirming their belief in ghosts. So Erin seeks out Abby, and discovers that she's still researching the supernatural, now with the sharp-witted gadget maker Jillian (Kate McKinnon). With spirit sightings on the rise in New York, the three decide to launch a ghost-busting business, joined by city expert Patty (Leslie Jones) and bimbo receptionist Kevin (Chris Hemsworth). But the apparitions popping up around the city are getting increasingly malevolent, and it's clear that an apocalypse is brewing.
The basic plot is lifted from the original movie, which is referenced in virtually every scene. Most of this is rather distracting, because a more original storyline would have been a lot more involving and the in-jokes will be lost on younger audiences. But it's fun to see the original cast members turn up here and there in random cameos.

The actress says she's taking note of those who didn't offer to dress her for the upcoming premiere.
Actress and comedian Leslie Jones has criticised fashion designers on Twitter after she had trouble finding a dress for the upcoming Ghostbusters premiere. Jones stars in the all-female reboot alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon, which is set for release next month.
Leslie Jones says designers haven't been willing to help her find a dress for the Ghostbusters premiere.
On Twitter Jones wrote: “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything.” The comedian did receive a reply from one designer, Christian Siriano, who responded with a clapping emoji.

David is a night guard for a company that sells armoured vehicles (known as Loomis Fargo & Company) in North Carolina; and he's not exactly what you'd call a genius. Desperate for a lifestyle away from his routine, low paid job, he sets up a massive heist; intending to break into a vault containing millions of dollars with his co-conspirators Kelly and Steve. They manage to make off with more than $17 million, making it one of the largest bank heists in American history (technically so, as most of the money belonged to the bank). Initially, the police have no leads and David hopes that using the money for something good will redeem him in the eyes of God. The FBI has other ideas when it becomes clear whose behind the robbery.
