The ‘Ghostbusters’ star is now back on Twitter, but says she never really left.
Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones stopped by ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ on Thursday (July 21) and opened up about the harassment and bullying she’d gone through on Twitter recently. It all began earlier this week when Jones exposed users who had sent her racially abusive tweets, which eventually led to journalists Milo Yiannopoulos being permanently banned from the site.
Leslie Jones appeared on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ on Thursday.
"First of, I just want to let everyone know that I did not leave Twitter," she began by stating. "I just signed out because I wanted to deal with what was going on, and then I went to bed and I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'They said I left Twitter! Wait! I didn't leave!’”
"What's scary about the whole thing is that the insults didn't hurt me. Unfortunately I'm used to the insults. That's unfortunate. But what scared me was the injustice of a gang of people jumping against you for such a sick cause," she continued.

"Everyone has an opinion and it all comes at you one time and they really believe in what they believe in, and it's so mean. Like, it's so gross and mean and unnecessary. So it was just like one of those things of, like, 'OK, so if I hadn't said anything nobody would have ever knew about this.’"
Jones then spoke about the difference in response between social media sites Facebook and Twitter. “When I approached Facebook they were on it,” she said. “Twitter, I was on them. It's like, that's my favourite restaurant. I love the food there. Three people just got shot in front of me. Y'all need to get some security.”

Jones added that she later met and talked to Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey. “He helped me out and we got a whole bunch of accounts taken off Twitter,” she said. “Because it’s not right, it’s not right to gang up on nobody.”
On Thursday Jones tweeted for the first time since her abuse made headlines. “Welp...a bitch thought she could stay away. But who else is gonna live tweet Game of Thrones!” she wrote. “Thanks for the love and support I received! made me feel real special.”
