Lena Dunham is determined to stamp out airbrushing in magazines and show young women what real bodies look like, so when her cover shoot for Spanish publication Tentaciones came out pretty well edited, she wasn't entirely thrilled and called them out for not being honest with their readers.

Lena DunhamLena Dunham urges magazine editors to be 'honest'

It's no secret that Dunham represents women's rights in all forms, and part of that is the right to be whatever size you happened to be and still be beautiful. The 'Girls' star herself is proud of her curvacious figure and has never been afraid of revealing all on the small screen. Even so, Tentaciones (Temptations) still found it necessary to Photoshop the heck out of her recent cover shoot where she was seen standing in a 60s style white mini-dress with her suspiciously slender arms aloft and some perfectly svelte legs on show.

She posted the shoot on Instagram on Monday (February 29th 2016) accompanied by a little message to the magazine's editors assuring them that her body has been airbrushed way out of proportion. 'Oh hello El Pais! I am genuinely honored to be on your cover and so happy you licensed a pic by Ruven Afanador, who always makes me feel gorgeous', she wrote. 'BUT this is NOT what my body has ever looked like or will ever look like - the magazine has done more than the average Photoshop. So if you're into what I do, why not be honest with your readers? Much love, Lena.'

So far, neither the photo editors nor the photographer have commented on the situation, but plenty of fans have rallied around the actress in support.

Recently, Dunham also commented on the new release of realistic Barbies, which include dolls of petite, tall and curvy sizes. 'I'm a grown ass lady who still experiences a collect 'em all frenzy when faced with a compelling doll', she told her Instagram followers. 'The new Barbie options would have made me a very happy little girl. Hell, I'm a happy woman.'
