Surprise, surprise, Jennifer Lawrence is Forbes’ highest grossing celebrity of 2014. No, seriously, did anyone expect anything else? J-Law kicked the year off with a supporting role in the super mega blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past and then kept that momentum going with the third instalment in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay – Part I. The two movies have earned a cumulative total of $1,4 at the box office worldwide. According to Forbes, that number will grow even more as "Mockingjay" continues its theatrical run.

Jennifer Lawrence
J-Law made a huge leap in the list this year.

Lawrence has made a stunning jump in the charts from last year, when her movies earned a (slightly) less impressive $700 million, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson laughed all the way to the bank and Number 1 with $1.3 billion. Lawrence is followed by Chris Pratt, who starred in Guardians of the Galaxy and lent his voice to The Lego Movie for a $1,2 billion cume. Representing for the ladies once again is Scarlett Johansson, who took third place with $1,18 billion, split between  the highest grossing film of the year – Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and her sci-fi experiments Lucy and Under the Skin.

More: Why Were Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams Paid Less Than Their Male Co-Stars?

This news comes in direct contrast to the recent Sony hack, which revealed that Lawrence was paid significantly less than her male co-stars for the Oscar-winning American Hustle. The hack was cited as an example of the gender wage gap that still exists in Hollywood, but it turns out that hard work really pays off. Mostly for studio bosses, but you know.
