Jorja Smith follows up her collaborative Machiavelli Sessions release with her latest single of 2021, 'Addicted'. The 'Be Honest' West Midlands singer-songwriter has released a three track EP of session tracks with WDR Funkhausorchester, including 'By Any Means' and two versions of 'Blue Lights', as well as a remix of 'Come Over' so far this year.
'Addicted', Jorja's latest single, is Smith's first release of wholly new material in 2021 and comes prior to an as yet unconfirmed album release thought to be due this year. Ahead of the single and video being released Jorja posted on her Instagram page saying, "I miss u all mannn, all ur energy at my shows dearly. I really was on tour the last 3 years or so, Thank you for letting me be me, letting me grow and always being there, we are all growing together actually, it’s so cute I can’t wait to share all this music with u all. Honestly I miss seeing u sing back to me with even more passion than I sang the songs myself. Dreaming of the day when we can do this again."
Jorja explained that her new song, 'Addicted', is about "focusing on wanting the full attention of someone who's not giving enough (or any) when they should be. The video is multiple versions of me singing the song, having fun dressing up, not trying to be too serious and just giving myself more freedom." Jorja's not kidding about the dressing up either, there are countless costume changes in her latest video with Smith looking fab in all of them.
Jorja Smith's latest release is one that fully capitalises on her smooth and soulful vocal. The tender delivery that introduces us to 'Addicted' is a subtle build that subsequently feeds in a more percussive back drop as Smith's performance effortlessly shifts up a gear. This is a super single to kick off Jorja Smith's 2021.
