Alison Limerick releasing new album following success of John Lewis Christmas advert
Alison Limerick and her musical partner Lati Kronlund are releasing a new album in May following the incredible reaction to their '90s club classic Where Love Lives being used in the 2025 John Lewis Christmas advert.
Alison Limerick’s ‘90s dance hit Where Love Lives was the soundtrack to the emotional 2025 John Lewis Christmas advert – and she is using the ad’s success as a springboard to release a new album.
The singer and her musical partner Lati Kronlund - who co-wrote Where Love Lives, which was originally a hit in 1991 - now perform as Brooklyn Funk Essentials and Alison has spilled that she is bringing out new LP Black Butterfly in May.
The pair and their bandmates put the finishing touches to the tracks at the start of 2026 and they can’t wait to get the LP out now.
Speaking to Contact Music, Alison - who is performing at Islington Assembly Hall in London on 8 May – she said: “The album is gonna be called Black Butterfly. I can’t wait for people to hear it.”
Lati added: “I'm super proud of the record. Alison does a fantastic job on it. We're out there.
“Alison is a true performer and a wonderful being, I’m so fortunate to have met her.”
Last year’s John Lewis Christmas advert showed a middle-aged dad being gifted a 12in version of Where Love Lives by his teenage son.
The father puts the record on and is transported back to his clubbing days and memories of his son as a baby, as his life flashes before his eyes.
Alison loved the sentiment of the campaign and believes it is still such an important song 35 years after it came out because it has heart and soul and because of the phenomenal remix late legendary house DJ and producer Frankie Knuckles created.
She said: “It’s reached so many people.
“Lati Kronlund wrote the most wonderful song for me. Frankie Knuckles added the extra dimension. I love Frankie, I worked with Frankie on my second album.
“The song itself had potential anyway but when he first heard it he went, ‘I need to remix this.’ He wanted to, he could see what he was gonna do with it. The remixes that he turned out back in 1991, just phenomenal and they legs and they had heart. He just put some kind of extra magic with what he did with that song. I will forever be grateful.”
