Bryan Adams has released the sun-soaked festive single California Christmas.

The Run to You artist has offered the first glimpse of his upcoming festive album Bryan Adams and Friends: A Great Big Holiday Jam, which is set for release on December 8.

Although much of the world is dusted with snow, Bryan leans into a humorous kind of festive magic on the single – which evokes images of palm trees wrapped in lights, golden sunsets, ocean breezes and the easy-going cheer of Christmas spent by the ocean.

From beachside relaxation to hanging mistletoe by the swimming pool, California Christmas paints an irresistible picture of December in the sunshine.

The track is powered by catchy hooks, bright guitars, lush harmonies and the unmistakable vocals of Adams. It stands out as a festive favourite in the making that is ideal for Christmas playlists, winter road trips and those dreaming of spending Christmas in the sun.

California Christmas – which was recorded live at Vancouver's famous Warehouse Studio - brings together an all-star cast of friends from the forthcoming Bryan Adams and Friends A Great Big Holiday Jam TV special, including Alessia Cara, Alan Doyle, Barenaked Ladies and The Sheepdogs.

The song comes ahead of Bryan's latest run of UK shows that will see him perform at three arenas in December, including Hull Connexin Live (8th), Cardiff Utilita Arena (9th) and the Brighton Centre (10th).

Bryan famously spent a record-breaking 16 weeks at the top of the UK Single Chart with his 1991 hit (Everything I Do) I Do It For You but didn't think the track – which featured in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - would be a success at first, although record producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange did.

The 66-year-old singer said: "I had no idea, but I knew that Mutt did, because I remember him pulling into the studio one day and he said, 'You know what? This song really has an international melody', and those words stuck with me because he was so right. There wasn't a country in the world that didn't play that song afterwards.

"When he was producing it, he was thinking global. Hats off to both Mutt and Michael Kamen, because they're the ones that were really the geniuses behind it."
