Love Will Tear Us Apart

Its rather inevitable that every year or so an old classic band get thrust back into the lime light. With spats of nearly identical bands coming out it seems in a monthly cycle, the newest trend of influence to name check is Joy Division. Unlike other bands that have name checked the Joy, like Interpol par example, Honeyroot are strange.

The song seems more stripped down than the original with the drone of Ian gone being replaced by clear crisp whispers of the vocalist. The music composition obviously

matches that of original however it is a tad less electronic with pianos replacing the stark beats. What I do appreciate about this single is the cheek of Honeyroot. It is extremely daring to cover such a well known and critically idolised song, and to be honest it’s actually a great cover. But if this is you first taste of Honeyroot I would try downloading some of their own material as the B-Side is utter rubbish and may put people off listing to their own stuff. Some weird electro remix thing, bleegghh, who needs it.

Never the less this is a nice single definitely worth buying if you like Honeyroot or you are ravid Joy Division fans waiting for somebody to fuck up their humble classic. 6/10 (Due to B-Side)
