Nelly Jailed Over Weed In Tennessee

Nelly

Nelly, aka Cornell Haynes - the quintessential southern rapper - has been arrested on drugs charges in Tennessee. According to Billboard, the Hot in Here hitmaker was pulled over by a state trooper on Saturday morning for not having two of the required stickers.

The timing wasa bit unfortunate, though. According to the report, the officer smelled marijuana inside the car, which prompted him to search the vehicle. In the end, the vehicle contained five rocks that tested positive for meth, a small amount of marijiuana as well as drug paraphernalia. Several handguns were also found in the bus. Another man, Brian Jones, was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun.

Various Artists - BBC Radio 1's The Nixtape Album Review

For our American readers, no, that's not a typo. 'The Nixtape' is a regular feature on BBC Radio 1's popular 'Breakfast Show'; a weekly segment every Friday morning where an hour of music, usually consisting of classics and barely-dated hits from the 90s and earlier 00s, are played. 'BBC Radio 1's the Nixtape' is split into two discs, each with a different style. The first is a rap/hip-hop compilation, with the second being more of a club/techno/house mix. While it's all the same 'Nixtape', the styles are divergent enough to demand a separate look at each.

Various Artists - BBC Radio 1's the Nixtape Album Review

The first half of the 'Nixtape' kicks off with some vintage swag in TLC's 'Creep' and Ashanti's 'Only U', starting the first CD squarely into classic 90s hip hop, before quickly launching into more conventional rap beats like A$AP Mob's 'Trillmatic' and the enjoyably hilarious 'Shake Ya Ass' by Mystikal, all of which ooze with vintage. The second portion of the album lands the big hits of the last two decades, featuring Sean Paul's 'Get Busy', Snoop Dogg's 'Beautiful', Busta Rhymes' 'Thank You' and Notorious B.I.G's 'Mo' Money, Mo' Problems', encompassing some of the most profound hip-hop in music history. It wouldn't have been a hip-hop album without Nelly's 'Hot in Here' or 'The Way You Move' by Outkast, but the latter half of the album had fewer memorable beats. 'Welcome to Jamrock' by Damian Marley and 'Nobody to Love' by Sigma stand out amidst a number of old school rap tracks, but few of the rest stood out as being particularly memorable after the repeated punches of the big hitters made their way.

The 'Nixtape''s electronic second half isn't bad, though it's something that's going to appeal more to die-hard fans than casual listeners. There aren't quite the same identifiable groups of music within disc 2, though there are equally a few stand-out acts scattered throughout. The soothing 'Rather Be' by Clean Bandit, the ivory-tingling 'I Wanna Feel' by second SecondCity, and an infusion of pop in 'Take Care' by Rihanna and Drake prompt all but the most lethargic listener to get on their feet and move. Where the first half of the 'Nixtape' had variety, the second half runs together completely. Perhaps this is an appealing factor for fans of club music, and maybe this would make the second half of the 'Nixtape' perfect for your next dance party, but it can be difficult to stay interested in an album when the songs begin to run together so cleanly.

The ever overlooked St. Louis, Missouri is our next stop for the Budweiser Made in America documentary series, and an appropriate point ahead of Jay Z's music festival.

Almost every major city in the United States has some sort of musical identity which is exactly that sort of thing that inspired Jay Z to create Budweiser Made in America festival. It's all about looking at different genres from all over the country and uniting them in two major cities: Philadelphia and Los Angeles. However, there are plenty of musically rich cities out there that just barely get noticed - even in spite of some of the major stars that have come out of them.

Everything That's Wrong With The Snoop Dogg And Psy Collaboration "Hangover"

Snoop Dogg Psy Miley Cyrus Nelly Tim Mcgraw Jimmy Kimmel

In one of the oddest collaborations since Nelly gave country artist Tim Mcgraw a call and asked to bring his Louisiana drawl to the R&B track “Over And Over”, Snoop Dogg has teamed up with South Korean viral success Psy to unleash the track “Hangover” upon the world. It’s not the first time the G-funk master has produced a piece of work with an artist from disparate corners of the music world. He has previously teamed up with Miley Cyrus for the track “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks” during the rapper’s ill-conceived stint as adopting the Rastafarian lifestyle under the moniker of Snoop Lion.

Snoop Dogg at TAO nightclubSnoop Dogg and Psy's collaboration has been widely attacked by both of their respective fans.

Debuting in the US on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the video attained over 3.5 million views in 24 hours and currently boasts viewing figures of almost 25 million. But such figures are small fry for K-pop megastar Psy, who has become the first artist to break the 2 billion mark on Youtube. The video itself depicts Snoop and Psy trying various purported South Korean cures for the after effects of excessive inebriation, as well as their clips from their hedonistic exploits from the day before. As for the music itself, it contains all the tropes of Psy’s previous opus- blaring synthesizers and a skewed chorus hook designed to burrow into your brain and resolutely refuse to leave.

The History Of Nelly's 'Hot In Herre'

Nelly

You’ve been hiding under a rock if you haven’t heard about radio station KVVF’s epic PR stunt. To announce the rebranding of the station as ‘Hot 105.7’ the station have been playing Nelly’s ‘Hot in Herre’ on repeat ever since 3pm on March 14th (can you imagine the royalties that guy is raking in right now?!).

nelly hot in herre Nelly's 'Hot in Herre' has been on repeat for three days now

The song originally came out in 2002 (man, that makes us feel old) on Nelly’s album Nellyville. Produced by Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes, the single uses a hook from Chuck Brown’s 1979 track “Bustin’ Loose”, as well as samples from Neil Young’s “There’s a World” and Nancy Sinatra’s “As Tears Go By” cover.

Drugs And Loaded Gun Seized: Nelly’s Tour Bus Raided In Sierra Blanca

Nelly Willie Nelson Armie Hammer Snoop Dogg Fiona Apple

Nelly’s tour bus was searched at a border patrol in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Heroin was uncovered, alongside a loaded firearm, reports MTV.

The rapper was detained on Wednesday night (October, 9 2012) but wasn’t arrested, after Brian Keith Jones – a man on the bus with him – admitted to being the proprietor of the 0.64 ounces of heroin, more than 10 pounds of marijuana and a loaded .45-caliber pistol. He was, of course, subsequently arrested after the dogs sniffed out his batch of illegal stuff. “It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest this morning,” NME reported Nelly as saying. “Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board. Law enforcement officials did not press charges against anyone other than that individual.”

Sierra Blanca seems like a honey trap for celebs that insist on smuggling narcotics: Willie Nelson, Armie Hammer, Snoop Dogg and, most recently, Fiona Apple have all been arrested for drug possession in the Texas town. "Most of the people were very nice to me," Apple said of her arrest. "There are four of you out there, and I want you to know I heard everything you did, I wrote it all down with your names and everything you did and said stupidly thinking I couldn't hear and see you."

Nelly, Jersey Shore and The Tiny - Nelly the Dog has become somewhat of a local attraction, having been seen being cuddled by various members of the 'Jersey Shore' cast on numerous occasions. Nelly belongs to the owners of Florence Curiousity Shop, which is right next door to the O' Vesuvio pizza shop where the cast were working during their stay in the city. While at first tourists flocked to see the cast of the popular TV show, there are now just as many people coming to catch a glimpse of the tiny dog, from as far afield as Pisa!
