Childhood: Jessica Biel was born in Ely, Minnesota. Her parents are Kimberly, who worked in spiritual healing, and Jonathan Biel, a businessman. As a child, she lived in homes in Texas, Connecticut and Woodstock, Illinois before finally moving to Boulder, Colorado. She enjoyed soccer and gym when she was growing up and attended Tufts University.
Acting career: Jessica Biel became interested in performing at a young age and had lead roles in productions of 'Annie', 'The Sound of Music' and 'Beauty and the Beast'. At the age of twelve she was signed by the Judith Fontaine Modeling & Talent Agency and appeared in commercials for Dulux Paint and Pringles. In 1996, she landed a role in the family drama series '7th Heaven' which ran for ten seasons though she left her regular spot on the show during season five after angering the show's producers when she posed nude for 'Gear' in 2000. Her first film role was in 'Ulee's Gold' opposite Peter Fonda in 1997, for which she won a Young Artist Award. In 2001, she starred alongside Freddie Prinze, Jr. in 'Summer Catch'. The following year she was in the novel-to-screen romance drama 'The Rules of Attraction' with James Van Der Beek, Kate Bosworth and Ian Somerhalder. She landed a major role in the 2003 movie 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' which grossed over $80 million in the US. In 2004, she had two other big roles in the third Blade film 'Blade: Trinity' with Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson, and 'Cellular' opposite Jason Statham. In 2006, she starred alongside magic drama 'The Illusionist' with Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti, as well as war film 'Home of the Brave' with Samuel L. Jackson and 50 Cent. 2007 saw her in 'Next' alongside Nicolas Cage and Julianne Moore and 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' with Adam Sandler and Kevin James. She also played a stripper in 'Powder Blue' opposite Forest Whitaker. In 2008, she was in 'Easy Virtue' with Colin Firth and Kristin Scott Thomas and also performed on the movie's soundtrack with the tracks 'Mad About the Boy' and 'When the Going Gets Tough'. In 2009, she voiced a character in the animated sci-fi flick 'Planet 51'. 2010 saw her in 'Valentine's Day' (amongst a cast that included Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Jessica Alba and Kathy Bates), and 'The A-Team' opposite Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson, and Sharlto Copley. The following year she appeared in 'New Year's Eve' from the director of 'Valentine's Day'. In 2012 she appeared in the re-make of 'Total Recall' alongside Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale, and also appeared in the Oscar-nominated 'Hitchcock' with Helen Mirren and Anthony Hopkins.
Personal life: Jessica Biel married Justin Timberlake in 2012 after he proposed following a brief split in 2011. In 2006, she auctioned off a lunch date with her in a charity auction to raise money for Molly Bloom who needed medical treatment after getting injured in a limo accident. She also co-founded the Make the Difference Network and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for the United Nation Foundation.
