Net Worth: According to Celebrity Net Worth in 2014, Jason Statham has a net worth of 40 million USD.

Childhood: Jason Statham was born in Shirebrook, England, to dancer Eileen and lounge singer Barry Statham. Despite originally taking to the idea of following in his father's footsteps of getting involved in the entertainment industry, Statham began perusing a sporting career after moving to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He started by trying to follow a martial arts career, before his childhood friend (and later co-star) Vinnie Jones introduced him to football. Statham played football for his school as a child, before taking on diving. In 1992, Statham participated in the World Diving Championships, finishing in 12th place. His entire diving career lasted twelve years, during which he was a member of Britain's diving squad.

Career: jason Statham was training at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London when he was discovered by a modelling agency scout. Statham was chosen to model for French Connection, which led to him being noticed by director Guy Richie. Richie cast Statham in the 1998 film 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'. The film was a hit, and led to Statham being invited back to star in 2000's 'Snatch', alongside Brad Pitt, Benicio Del Toro and Dennis Farina. The two successful films helped launch Statham into the Hollywood spotlight, with appearances in both 'Ghosts of Mars' and 'The One' in 2001. The following year, Statham was cast in the lead role for 'The Transporter' due to his own martial arts experience. The film received moderate reviews and turned a fair profit, earning it a sequel in 2005 which had an overall similar critical and box office response. The third film in the series exceeded the sales for the first two films, yet received far lower critical response. Similarly, Statham appeared in the film 'Crank' in 2006. The film generated a huge box office response and received moderate reviews. The sequel received similar critical praise, yet failed to make a large impact on the box-office. In 2010, Statham stared alongside Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Mickey Rourke, in the film 'The Expendables'. He reprised his role in the 2012 and 2014 sequels to the film.

Personal Life: For seven years, Statham was in a relationship with model Kelly Brook, however the couple split up in 2004. He dated Bardot band member Sophie Monk briefly in 2005, before beginning a relationship with model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in 2010. Statham is a strong advocate of stuntmen having their own category at The Academy Awards.

Jason Statham Issues Apology Over On-Set Homophobic Slur

Jason Statham

Jason Statham has issued a pre-emptive apology regarding an audio recording in which he repeatedly used homophobic slurs some years ago on the set of one of his films.

Last year, the British actor was confronted by a consultant on the 2015 gambling movie Wild Card, who warned Statham that he had audio recording of him using the phrase “f***ing f**s” during an argument with producer Steve Casman on set in 2013.

Despite not having heard the recording, and saying that he had no recollection of the argument or of using the language, Statham issued a statement to The Blast on Thursday (May 17th) saying he was “deeply” sorry if he did utter those insults.

Jason Statham Loves The Mechanic's Complicated Action

Jason Statham

The sequel sees the efficient killer dragged out of retirement when his girlfriend Gina (Jessica Alba) is kidnapped and her captors force Arthur to carry out three seemingly impossible hits and of course to make them look like accidents in three elaborate set-pieces.

Jason Statham stars as Arthur Bishop in The Mechanic 2: Resurrection

So it seems a bit obvious why Statham might want to return to the role. "It's nice to revisit a familiar character and put him in a unique world, especially Arthur," Statham says. "He is a complicated man with a moral compass. And I like how he orchestrates these hits. Get in and get out without a trace. It's the MacGuyver kind of brain, composed and confident. It's great to play that! And on this occasion Jessica Elba gets to eek out a side of Bishop that we've never seen - this compassionate guy who lets down his soft side in order to do something good for somebody."

Jason Statham Returns In 'Mechanic: Resurrection' This Weekend

Jason Statham is set to return in another explosive action thriller in the form of 'Mechanic: Resurrection', the sequel to 2011's 'The Mechanic'. Jason StathamJason Statham returns in 'Mechanic: Resurrection'

If Jason Statham isn't toting a pistol, performing foolhardy feats or getting involved in a car chase, it's not really a Jason Statham film. Luckily, he's back doing what he does best in 'Mechanic: Resurrection', alongside a whole new cast including Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones.

Watch the trailer for 'Mechanic: Resurrection' here:

Arthur Bishop (Statham) turned his back on his career as a gang mechanic (hitman) after he was forced to kill his partner turned adversary Steve in probably one of his most elaborate 'accidents' in which he almost died himself. Now he favours a quiet life trying to win the affections of Gina (Jessica Alba) - that is until she is kidnapped by the employees of a man called Crain (Sam Hazeldine), who wants to get even.

In order to get his would-be girlfriend back, Bishop must carry out four assassinations in 36 hours. One of the targets is an arms dealer named Max Adams (Tommy Lee Jones), but Bishop isn't willing to follow orders from Crain and fakes Adams' death as he enlists him to help rescue Gina.

The Transporter Refuelled Puts Ed Skrein In The Spotlight

Ed Skrein Jason Statham

Ed Skrein may have had his big breakthrough with a brief role on Game of Thrones, but he had already made a mark on British cinema in Ill Manors and The Sweeney. Now he takes the spotlight in The Transporter Refuelled, replacing Jason Statham in the role of no-nonsense driver Frank Martin.

He's aware of the pressure of rebooting a franchise, but wasn't worried. "It always felt quite natural," he says. "I felt so relaxed even going into the auditions for Transporter. I did what I always do which is prepare intensively, work hard and take it seriously. But I was very comfortable in the shoes of Frank Martin."

Is The 'Transporter' Just The Beginning For Ed Skrein?

Ed Skrein Ryan Reynolds Jason Statham

Memories from Comic-Con 2015 may be centred around 'Suicide Squad' and 'Batman v Superman', but let's not forget what Marvel had in store this year; namely 'Deadpool' starring Ryan Reynolds and Ed Skrein. Wait, who was that last one?

'Who is Ed Skrein?' is the question on a lot of people's lips after his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con International. Ryan Reynolds may not be such a surprise to play Deadpool, given his comic-book movie history ('Green Lantern', 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', 'Blade: Trinity'), but an unfamiliar face linked to his arch-nemesis Ajax has just added to the excitement.

Spy Review

Excellent

The ace partnership between filmmaker Paul Feig and actress Melissa McCarthy evolves into something formidable with this raucous action comedy, which simultaneously spoofs the espionage genre and provides some genuine thrills. From ensemble player (Bridesmaids) to costar (The Heat) and now to the star of the show, McCarthy finds a role worthy of her talents, subverting rather than exploiting her distinct physicality.

She plays Susan Cooper, a desk-jockey at the CIA who works with the field agents, guiding them by radio link through their dangerous paces. When star spy Bradley Fine (Jude Law) is taken out of service and all other top agents have their covers blown, the boss (Allison Janney) has little choice but to send the well-trained Susan into the field to take down the villainous arms dealer Rayna (Rose Byrne). With her best pal Nancy (Miranda Hart) as her office-bound helper, Susan gets into a series of disguises and travels to Paris, Rome and then Budapest. And despite the constant attempts of rogue agent Rick Ford (Jason Statham) to "help" her, Susan gets ever closer to Rayna and her gangster buyer Sergio (Bobby Cannavale).

The relatively simple plot is overcrowded with characters and subplots that add absurd layers of humour to the film, almost all of which are genuinely hilarious. Best of all, none of the laughs come at the expense of Susan, a capable, smart, witty woman who's the perfect alter ego for McCarthy (and certainly much more engaging than her obnoxious-slob persona in The Heat or Tammy). She has terrific chemistry with all of her costars, flirting shamelessly with the Bond-like Law, an amusingly swaggering Statham and especially the purringly hysterical Byrne. As always, the great Janney steals every one of her few scenes. Less effective is an extended goofy cameo by Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, who at least shows willing to dive into some ridiculous comedy. There's also another terrific foil in Susan's local contact Aldo, played with leering, opportunistic relish by Peter Sarafinowicz.
