Nigella Lawson Allegedly Had No Idea Charles Saatchi Was Filing For Divorce

Nigella Lawson had planned to reconcile with her husband Charles Saatchi when she returned from working in the USA and hoped to continue their marriage from where they left off before he violently grabbed her throat whilst the pair were dining in a high class London restaurant. Her plans were left dashed when Saatchi announced on Sunday (July 7) that he was filing for divorce from his wife of ten years and the chef has been left confused and heartbroken at the announcement.

According to UK paper The Sun, Lawson is 'devastated' that her husband has walked out on her and had no idea that he planned on ending their marriage. Friends of Lawson told the paper that now she fears that her marriage has reached the point of no return and she will never be able to reconcile with him and despite everything the pair have been through in recent weeks, she was still intent on making their marriage last.

“Poor Nigella is beside herself. She had no idea that Charles was going to file for divorce. She has been trying to call him to talk about what is going on, but she cannot get through. She keeps saying, ‘How can you file for divorce without even talking about it?’" adding, "She was hoping she could quietly reconcile with Charles after she got back from the US. Her intention was for them to spend some time apart and then give things another go. Now those plans are in tatters. Nigella is a traditional girl and the idea of divorcing is horrid for her.”

Saatchi apparently failed to tell Nigella of his intentions to divorce

Saatchi accepted a police caution for domestic violence following his public attack on his soon-to-be-ex-wife, while Nigella moved out of their London mansion with her children. She later flew to the US for work but was due to return later this month, with her main intention upon return being a salvage mission for their marriage.

Nigella has yet to comment on the event, although her shock and devastation at the divorce announcement clearly shows her true feelings towards Saatchi. Friends of the pair have placed the disintegration of their marriage solely on the millionaire art dealer Saatchi, blaming his explosive temper and often unflattering personality as the main reason behind the end of their marriage. Despite this, sources close to the celebrity chef are discussing how she is blaming herself for the end of the marriage and has been getting more insecure with each passing day.

Who knows what will happen next in the Lawson-Saatchi rollercoaster ride, but for her and her children's sake, we hope Nigella doesn't do anything too drastic.
